Yes, that would work; though of course the specification of the laptop is of importance.

    Make and model?

It's a Toshiba P300-19P, about 4 years old and was expensive at the time so think the spec of it should be quite good, well I hope so.
    Running Windows XP.

Didn't even think about this actually. The recordings are very bitty and I was going to try and edit them into decent videos without all the gaps in between. One birthday party video has about 4 gaps in it so I was going to edit them out. I just assumed that once they were on my pc as a video file I would be able to transfer them onto DVD's, but looks like that's not possible then? They definitely need editing and if I just transferred them as they are they will look a real mess.

The laptop is certainly good enough. So that's the easiest solution.

Rip the video to the laptop. You can then edit the resultant files on the laptop or transfer the files to the PC and edit them there.

Thanks for your advice. Can't wait to have a go at this now. Just hope the Dazzle works ok on the laptop, otherwise I'll definitely have to buy some new software for the pc.
Will let you know how I get on. I'm not a fan of Windows 7 and this has put me off even more now!

Laptop is Vista not XP, so not compatible either. Shows how much I use it!

Think my only option is to order some software that will run on Windows 7 64bit. I'll have a look at the list you kindly posted for me. Wanted to start this tonight/tomorrow as I have a few days off but impossible now as I have no way of doing this without the software. Got everyything up and running, apart from the software - so annoying,

Based on what you said in your original post, it's not the software presenting you with the immediate problem (you can use any editing software you like).
Your problem based on what you originally said is that you can't get a 64bit driver for the hardware, and no editing software will get you past that.

You're right, that is exactly the problem, I have no idea what to do now. I thought that if I bought some more software that was compatible with Windows 7 64 bit then the drivers would come with it.

If you are near to Farnborough then I'll quite happily lend you the proper kit for doing the job which works under any OS without the need for drivers (you'll still need editing software though).

Fraid not, the drivers will come from the manufacturer.
Unfortunately in your case, the hardware went "end of line" ages ago so that will be why the manufacturer isn't providing updated drivers.

No stress, it will work with the laptop, as it's Vista 32 bit.

The Drivers are in the link supplied earlier.

ok, I've just started the first download, which is pretty big so will take a while. Can see this taking most of the evening. I will also have 3 poker games on the go on my pc at the same time, so will let you know if it worked as soon as I can.

I will get this sorted one way or another :)
