I was charging 60p for something that had a first class stamp 41p and 9p for packaging, and have received 5 1* for P & P. Obviously in these hard times, 10p overcharge is deemed as "very unreasonable"!.

I charged 3.50 postage for an item that actually cost me over 6.00 to post and buyer said it was a shame i charged him so much for the postage he thought it was unreasonable and he marked me down. seeing as it cost me 2.50 more than he paid i messaged him and told him to check the packing to see how much i actually paid message back said just one word sorry but too late by then.

I sold an item at 3.00 in the afternoon and posted it 30 mins later at 9.00 am next day they thanked me for their item and marked me down on time taken to dispatch i got a 1 .

sounds like a mistake, either the buyer, or ebay's system (oh no, I forgot, ebay never makes mistakes...;) )

i just do not understand the point of dsr - feedback should suffice to monitor ebayers. As for comments bywhats..if you are getting 1+2*'s for postage, you are obviously charging £1 for an item that costs a 1st class stamp, postage fees are not there to reclaim your lost paypal fees.

If you as a buyer are unhappy with up front postage (and note, packing) costs of £1 on an item that is posted with a first class stamp of 46p then I don't think you should bid to buy. The p&p is there for all to see before bidding, don't bleat about it after purchase!
DSR is absurdly open to abuse and the contrary whims of purchasers and I do not comprehend how ebay can close or limit accounts of sellers of long standing who have feeback scores in a ninety percentile range. I was subject to a "below standard" account due to malicous feedback a while ago and subsequently had an account suspended. I switched selling to other sites - ebay then lost all that commission and all my good will. My feedback rating was/is 98.8%. Go figure.

unfortunately 98.8% is not very good on ebay, comparatively. Personally I'm very fussy and don't buy from sellers with less than 99.8% (except v.small sellers with maybe just one buyer who sounds a bit unreasonable)

I'd be interested to hear what sites (outside technology, which are widely known) could be viable.

My thought are that stars appear to replace negative feedback. In the 'old days' it was not uncommon to see sellers with feedback under 99% and I would happily buy from sellers with 97-98% as it was fairly normal. Now it is rare to see a seller with less than 99.5% but I wonder if that means that some buyers default to a positive but reflect their annoyance at minor things in the stars instead?

I posted all that and then read CestLaVie's post about having had 98.8%, so maybe i am just not looking hard enough for low feedbakc sellers.

It gives buyers a chance to give more accurate feedback

Apologies but what a stupid thing to say. I'm not psychic and neither are my buyers. i don't always know the weight of an item by just looking at a photo in a listing. So it is in fact easy to bid on something you think is reasonable only for it to arrive and realise that t6he P&P was ridiculously high.

No system is perfect i'm afarid IMO DSRs have actually increased buyer confidence in ebay, which can only be a good thing as you get more sales and better prices. DSRs certainly keep me on my toes as a seller and make moe focus on my customer service. yes I sometimes have a whinge but overall they are a positive seller.

I'm with Soolin though I very rarely see sellers with below 100% FB now. As for your case I don't know the ins and outs but one bit of Maliclious FB or DSRs does not lead to a suspension so you must have had other problems to.

Thats absolutely not the case, one bit of the above can definently lead to suspension, and has done for many sellers.

I can't undertand why you were not allowed to improve first?

I didn't even know there was punishment for low dsr's until i got the email from ebay. Seller dashboard - what seller dashboard?

Fed up of being robbed - i started sending EVERYTHING recorded - as ebay/paypal constantly said to do. Despite charging cost price - my DSR's must have creapt up - as buyers don't like paying for recorded, as it as no benefit to them. But all i was checking was the stars next to my feedback - not the dashboard.

Then i got the email saying my postage drs 1's and 2's were 3.09%. That was in April - and its now 2.70%. The max limit is 2% - so i still need to shave off 0.7%.

Described is 0.00%, comms 0.03%, dispatch 1.9% (bit close for comfort - despite ALWAYS posting same or next day - scandalous ebay!!!!).

I've just had an email saying that, as i am improving - i will not face any restrictions. I must continue to improve, if its to stay this way.

So why weren't you treated this way, and given a chance? Did you get a warning earlier, that you did not respond to?

When speaking to Ebay - they said low DSR's should only be left with a neg, and that they monitor and remove low DSR's with positive feedback. This is clearly bull - as i have never had a negative (touch wood).

I think it is assumed that as there are so many warnings about maintaining your expanded seller dashboard that sellers did it as a matter of habit.

When the expanded seller dashboard was brought in a few years back we had a sticky on here about it warning people to keep watching it, but eveyone was already doing it, so the sticky became redundant.

Anecdotally using recorded on low value items does seem to hit the stars quite badly which is another reason why most serious sellers just build in a small amount of loss to their business plans and use normal mail.
