I'm wondering if Ebay wants to drastically reduce their numbers of sellers. The more sellers there are, the more profit margins get cut to the bone by competition. If ebay can reduce the number of sellers, then there's less supply, and hence unless demand falls considerably, prices will rise, which improves profitability. Ebay is very orientated towards getting good service for buyers. And for this to be possible, there needs to be enough profit margin to allow it.
Perhaps that's what they're doing......0 -
I think ebay haven't been interested in the small/private seller for sometime. I think its very difficult to get good star ratings unless you sell in volume. I've always sold second hand clothes, just mine, friends and family - I'm closing my account as soon as I've tied up loose ends. Lifes too short to be worrying about feeback. But I do feel sorry for those people who rely on ebay for an income it seems to be getting harder and harder to please and if you have the audacity to make a mistake .... god help you.0

I disagree, I think private sellers get the breaks. If this was a level playing field why do private sellers get free listings under 99p and why all those blasted free listing days?
When business sellers get free listings on certain busy weekends then I'll think it is fair.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. if you are getting 1+2*'s for postage, you are obviously charging £1 for an item that costs a 1st class stamp, postage fees are not there to reclaim your lost paypal fees. and so no qualms about the ban0

Re Ebay wiping out 1000s of businesses overnight.
this has really happened and in many cases unjustifiably.
We need Martin on the case, because livlehoods have been wiped out just like that.
Are you able to look into this further by perhaps going onto the community boards on ebay and raise the issue with Martin to see if its a cause he will take up for us, as Ebay are just not listening.
This is really serious and is ruining lives and causing untold misery to many genuine sellers.
Please please see if Martin will take up the cause for us.
thankyou0 -
It has actually affected a tiny amount of sellers though and as ebay are not in breach of anything I don't see this as something that can be easily addressed. If you want to contact the main team to put a suggestion forward for Martin to consider then the easiest way is to use the standard email at the top of the forum.
Whilst there are a number of unhappy sellers on the community boards there are equally as many happy sellers who see the suspensions as a good thing as it means the strongest and best sellers survive and give more confidence to buyers to encourage them to continue to use ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I was charging 60p for something that had a first class stamp 41p and 9p for packaging, and have received 5 1* for P & P. Obviously in these hard times, 10p overcharge is deemed as "very unreasonable"!.You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

I disagree that an equal amount of sellers are happy.
many simply do not understand how close they may be to being restricted themselves until it happens.
Im not terribly good at putting my point across due to fatigue but others on the community boards are. The system is definently flawed when sellers who have 100% positive feedback thousands of them, but then a few items get held up in the post, or a competitor sabotages their DSRs, a buyer doesnt understand the DSR system and thats it banned from selling.
100% positive feedback over many years with thousands of sales yet the seller is banned, come on thats clearly not acceptable but ebay wont listen to its users, maybe they will to martin.0 -
Where is this dashboard you're talking about or is it for business sellers only?0

..if things were that simple I would have never got any low stars, as I actually charge less than full postage costs...0
