We've always had good service from LV - I may have to cancel a holiday shortly due to unexpected illness, just called them and there were no problems.

what sort of price are you all paying for say a 2 week trip to europe including medical conditions. I have to find a policy for my dad and so far the only one we found was flexi cover direct and it was about £140, which is too expensive even though they say they cover certain conditions it was still over the budget, but just wondered if this is a reasonable price or not? thanks

It is not a matter of "falling ill" with depression - it is a matter of declaring ANY pre-existing conditions.
If the Insurance company find that you have depression as a pre existing condition they are within their rights to refuse to pay out on anything.

As I understand it this is not true - they can only refuse to pay out if the claim was as a result (directly or indirectly) of the undeclared medical condition.

Well if you read what you sign up to with this company, you'll see that:
We will not pay for any claim arising directly or indirectly as a result of a medical condition (see Definitions Applicable to the Whole Policy) suffered by you, unless declared to us, agreed by us on your insurance schedule and additional premium paid if required.

    https://secure.world-first.co.uk/policy-media/pti/single-trip-excl-cancellation-luggage/full-policy-wording.pdf

ie only claims caused by the undeclared medical condition will be refused if you don't declare it.

They have the usual "under the influence of alcohol" clause - so if you trip after you've had a beer they could argue that was due to you being under the influence...

    Hi,
Sainsburys have a credit card which, for £5 a month, provides travel cover. It seems to covers pre-existing conditions.
You have to be under 65 though.

I needed travel insurance for Worldwide Travel to cover High Blood Pressure and Cholesterol which are both totally under control.

I was being quoted more than £200 for worldwide multi trip cover and then I came across http://www.flexicover.co.uk/ and got it for £42 after having been directed to it by comparethemarket.com

    A very reasonable price indeed. :T :T  :j
I used to be indecisive, but now I am not quite sure...........:undecided

If you fall and break your leg for example and haven't them told them if you are diagnosed with depression, they could say the depression led to the accident. Loss of concentration is a big side effect of depression. So people find themselves walking across the road without looking etc. Depression actually can cause many accidents.

My insurers covered my diabetes type 1 for two years, then refused to insure me after I informed them I had been diagnosed depressed.

Anyone have a idea on a company that will cover my elderly parents with pre med ?
Both over 75,mum has asthma and dad has high blood pressure.
Only need basic cover to go to Spain 3-4 times a years for 2-3 week periods.
Minimum luggage and delay required as they fly budget airlines hand luggage every time.
They hold EHIC cards but just need that reassurance of more medical insurance ?

    Thanks in advance .
