Im currently 27 weeks and haven't got any stretchmarks (touch wood) yet. I have some oil to rub into bump from the Asda Little Angels range, it smells absolutely gorgeous but I don't always remember to use it. I don't see the point in spending an absolute fortune on something like that, all the basic ingredients are the same.

I rubbed in palmers cream twice a day for mostof my pregnancy and had loads of stretchmarks still :-(. I think it is genetic unfortunately and if you are going to get them you will. Mine aren't that dark though so hoping the cream helped with that.

I didn't get any, but I rubbed the body shops nut butter around my bump, and abdomen. I didn't get very big, so my skin wasn't stretched, until the last month of pregnancy. I always cream my skin, so part of my normal routine.

I get dry skin so usually use a body lotion or body butter daily after my bath or shower. I used to rub body lotion/butter on my bump, but I still got stretch marks. I've got a scar from an appendix operation on my tummy, and the stretch marks sort of spread out from it!

They looked huge and purple when I was pregnant but in time they fade to a silvery grey colour and they're not as noticeable now. I still wear a bikini on holidays as I accept they are part of me and it's a small price to pay for three lovely children.

Have a look at this website. It's fascinating and will help you feel better about your own body:

I used anything and everything and still ended up covered in them on my stomach and my boobs. I think some people are more prone than others. My friend didn't get any during puberty and also didn't during pregnancy but I got loads during puberty so presume I am just predisposed them! xx

I had three children - was like a sherman tank on No2 and have NO stretch marks. and didnt use anything apart from my normal moisturiser after bathing.
I think it depends on your skin.

I use a moisturiser with Olive Oil in there (twice a week), and I'm 30 weeks pregnant with twins. So far I have not got any stretch marks. Diet is also important where stretch marks are concerned. Vitamin E is meant to help prevent stretch marks, and also drinking loads of water to keep the skin hydrated. Personally I wouldn't bother spending too much on moisturiser as from what I hear, if you are going to get stretch marks, you will get them regardless!

    Good luck!!

I think some it's down to your genes myself. My mum didn't use any creams or anything, had 2 children and has no stretch marks. My MIL had 2 children and says she has loads, but apparently used all sorts to try to prevent them.

I got to about 7 months gone and thought I was looking massive (I'd got no marks though) so thought I'd use some cream, cos it couldn't hurt. I ended up without marks either, even though I put on 2.5 stone when pregnant.

It can't hurt to use cream, but if your genes dictate your likely to get them, I don;t think you can do anything about it. I used that cocoa butter, think it's by a company called Palmers.

I agree; I think it depends on your own mom. The midwives I saw were all: "You're so lucky not to have any on your bump". I had them on my "chest" just like my mom! And, no, moisturiser didn't make any difference but they do fade with time. But if you're going to use one, I second Palmer's cocoa butter - it smells just like chocolate. :)

Creams won't stop stretch marks. If you're going to get them there's no way to avoid it x however my OH runs palmers cocoa butter onto my bump every night as it's his way of bonding with our son xx
