Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2nd May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
It took me a while to get my fingers mobile enoough to type this morning, they were very stiff to start with.
It's bright & sunny out this morning, not sure what hubby want's to do but after 2 busy days I'd like a lazy day today. I'd like to spend the day cutting out the dress I'm wearing for my wedding, but we shall see.
Sad news this morning about the death of Henry Cooper, he always seemed to be a real gentleman.
No cooking today once I've done breakfast as I have a lot of picky bits in the fridge & lots of salad leaves & radishes in the garden & we will make do with that.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning H-H and all who cross follow

Don't ask me what I am doing awake at this time, very unusual, but couldn't nod back off. Maybe at the back of my mind was the task of merging two Gedcom files in FTM (for those of you into genealogy) there were over 300 names originally to check the details on, but I had got it down to 60 before my eyes gave out last night.

Today I have no plans, other than visiting the GNeice & GNephew, seems a waste on such a nice day not to be out, but the roads will probably be manic.

OS wise the lounge got hoovered and dusted yesterday, will put a loaf in the BM shortly, and maybe give the kitchen a lick and a promise. Got the compost bin working again now, DH had put it on to the gravel, as it wasn't working, so now got in directly onto soil.

Have a lovely Mayday BH. Take care all, DG

Good morning HH, DG and all to follow.

Beautiful sunny day here although quite fresh with a strong wind.
Going to have a day for just the two of us today. Will go out with a picnic and have a long walk. Need to make the best of this long weekend and do something memorable before returning to work tomorrow.

Dinner tonight will be something from the freezer which I will get out in a minute.

Happy Bank holiday Monday everyone, hugs for those who need or want,
    Cheers, Silver x

    Morning everyone,
Off to visit MIL and SIL and cousins today, nice way to spend the last day of the holidays.
i left my washing on the line overnight last night as it wasn't quite dry. It was so windy last night that I was surprised to see it still on the line this morning,at least DS has his favourite jeans clean for todays visit.
Tea tonight will be bits out of the fridge as I am sure that SIL will feed us well at lunchtime and then tomorrow it is back to school for the children and back to work for me, this holiday has been lovely but I am sure that reality will hit with a bump tomorrow!
    Have a good day everyone:)

    Morning Ladies :D

HH - Very sad about Henry Cooper :(

Lovely and bright and very windy again here today, put washing out before bed last night so that loads dry ;). Plenty more where that came from though.
I've moved the chicks into the indoor part of the hen run during the days now to get them used to not being with us :o.

Kids, chicks, hens have all been fed and watered just us to go now.

Tea tonight not sure maybe Cheesy nabs ala RR ;).

Still got copious amounts of chocolate in the house so don't need to bake yet.

    Have lovely days peeps xx

    Morning :hello:

It's my Dad's birthday this week, I asked him what he wanted and he said 'socks please' :rotfl: Yes he was serious, lol. So I bought socks and choc, and I'll get some potato vodka tomorrow.

My new job is fab, I put details on FB or my blog (or somewhere, lol) and I can't be bothered to type it all out again. In a nutshell - I got to go shopping to choose my own desk and chair, the kettle is permanently on, someone is always cracking a joke, and as long as the work is done you can do whatever you like. There's a river out the back and ducks visit every day for food, sometimes they walk into the shop :D There's loads of wild garlic out there, I'll be picking loads of that when it's ready.

Mr tru started his job there 3 weeks ago and they've just offered him a pay rise  He's still on less than his old job, but he used to have a minus tax code (company car). He has a van now and the 747L tax code so his take-home pay is actually more :j

We bought another 2 chickens yesterday (16 week old Columbines), they're a bit nervous but settled in much quicker than the ones we bought a few weeks ago. The demand for their eggs is huge, we can't keep up :D 13 girls and counting...........

Fruit and veg is doing well in the garden.

Just need to clean out Lily and Molly's hutch, then the day is ours :D Might go out and have a picnic.

    Morning my lovelies :D

Slightly better night with DD. Around 1am I had to strip her off down to her nappy and then she slept better. She's got a very sore chesty cough still and running a slight temp still but she slept a bit better although we were up at just before 6am. Will go back to bed a bit later.

Lovely and sunny here, cool breeze. Planted out my brassicas yesterday, have a loads left and no room to grow it  Think I really need to look at applying for a lottie although not holding my breath for one. How do you go about doing it? Noticed a few prices creeping up in Sainsbugs, UHT Milk up 3p, basics butter up 12p :(

Not sure what we're doing today as DD (and me) don't feel 100%. Fancy a potter at home day TBH.

Anyway tea tonight is savoury sausage bake. BM is on and a small load of washing to put on. There is a MOUNTAIN of ironing to do

I see Henry Cooper has died :( As Brut adverts take me back to my childhood :) And so it seems has Bin Laden. I fear he will be a martyr now to many impressionable young people, cut the head off the monster and another one grows in it's place :(

Anyway hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Bargainbird - choc all gone here  Baking needs to commence.

Tru - Well done you :T Sounds like my kind of job :D Well done to Mr Tru on his payrise :T

    Morning all,

Lovely day again here :T, very blowy I have a wash on the go, and will put a towel load on after.

Had mum and dad and sis + bil round yesterday for a BBQ, was really nice, and dad was on top form, there are loads of little bits left, so tonight we will have the salad bits, with hotdogs and rolls, so nice and easy :D

DD is still in bed, will leave her a while, back to school tomorrow:( still not long to go till she has finished.

Got some great bargains at the boot sale yesterday, a linen tablecloth and 12 napkins in a white and blue for £4, a beautiful Polish glass jug and a white 'cream' jug for 50p each, a beautiful delicate tea cup and saucer, to go on my dresser (which I have not got yet :rotfl:) 50p, and a cake stand for £1, twas a good day for bargains.

Not sure what we are up to today, will involve being out though, weather is too good to be inside.

    BB enjoy your nabs :D

    Have good days all xxxx

    morning all

well i managed another night with a grand total of 2hrs sleep :o and my head is pounding. that along with the nausea means i am in a very grouchy mood :o wish hubby luck today :o i'm not even going to attempt to get dressed as itwill lead to another meltdown about clothes not fitting :o a side effect of these meds is weight gain so not many of my summer clothes fit :( a rather touchy subject at the minute

but i'm not going to mope about (or so i say :o ) i am up and ready to start a day of housework. well in a minute.... hubby needs to do a tip run, get a few bits from asda and move some bits from the bathroom. i hate spiders with a vengance. i cannot rest if i know there is a spider lurking. since the one disappeared in the bathroom a few weeks ago, i wont move anything that is on the floor :o wimp i know :o i think jackieg got a running commentary of what that spider was doing :rotfl: i'm shuddering and looking around me now :o:rotfl:

i think i have about one maybe two loads of washing to do. hopefully the stuff on the line is dried from yesterday. hoovering needs tobe done from top to bottom and well as a bit of dusting. once hubby has moved the stuff from the bathroom, i can give it a good clean. after that there is more decluttering to do in the bedroom and with ds' toys....

foodwise... salmon probably with lemon and herb sauce and veg and potatoes...

well thats the plan for today..... lets see if it actually happens shall we :o
