I am putting my boots on but it will only be a stroll to the summit this morning followed by a meeting and a stint in the cathedral bookshop so the rest of the peaks will have to wait until tomorrow.
Don't forget to take some flares KC (and no I don't mean trousers)

Or a quirky pair of hotpants to sport for mountain rescue.Trying to shift that debt!0

:hello::hello::hello:
Hotpants would be good! I had a very young German lodger in my first house who wore lederhosen :j appropriate for land or sea
Flares, a.k.a. mobile phone, were taken :rotfl:
Hope it all went well for you today - have to say, I *adore* cathedral bookshops! The detailed level of the history, the tangents it can take you ... wonderful stuff.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
OK thanks to Hypno's financial lunch invites I have decided to delurk from my own diary and do an update.
Been desperately tired due to a combination of minor ladies complaints which added up to just being able to keep up with most threads but no energy to post on my ownGetting a bit better and less tired so hopefully I am getting the balance right
So in general news it was our little foster child's 2nd birthday last weekend and now I know why I hate Thomas so much not only for the theme tune which drives me nuts but this took hours to do and is not one of my best
Had a lovely day though
Since then of course it is half term which inevitabley means two children throwing up and running temps
On the financial front we are getting paid tomorrow the good news is that this is earlier than expected thought it would be monday the bad news is that as usual it is by cheque so I can plot and plan but not actually do anything until next week
I have today reduced my credit limit on one card by £8350 and am going to get OH to reduce his by £10K tonight he has to phone can't do it online. Next week I will clear two cards and they will be closed reducing our available credit by another £16K so that will be almost 35K of available credit taken away no wonder we managed to rack up 89K of debt with these limits one card alone had a limit of £22100:mad:
When I make the payments next week we will have just one CC debt on 0% until 7th March 2012 I will leave the actual amount until I have made the payments but I am very happy about it so one card to concentrate on. I have another card to close but need to find my online access details not sure what the limit is on that one but it is empty and no use to us so needs to go. So in addition to the card with the debt on we will have three other cards available I know this sounds a lot but they are the cards with the various voucher options, Mr. T's Mar*S and Ama*on so they will be used for our normal monthly spends as we are doing now and cleared each month the one being used depending on my voucher needs
So one CC debt I never thought we would ever get to this point so need to plot and plan how to get rid of this its unlikely to disappear by 7th March but will be cleared next pay day on 30th April :j so need to pay off as much as possible by March but as it is such a short period will take the interest hit and not do another balance transfer as the fees will not make it worthwhile hence the closing of cards and reducing of credit limits as I don't want CC debt ever again :j
Off to cinema and Pizza Hut tomorrow courtesy of social services who were given some grant to spend to celebrate the family and off to our local sea zoo on Saturday with a free ticket won by my friend so very :money:
Sorry for the long post but I did have a lot to catch up on

Yes you did have a lot to catch up on, and the last bit is brilliant! I know this payday was important to you in the debt freeness plan, but this is fantastic :j:j:j
Sorry you've been feeling tired like that - as you say, best to lurk when things get like that. I think the photo's really sweet! And I bet he loved it!
Its Friday todayhope this weekend is a nice one for you - lots of plotting and planning for debt freeness, I can hear it, not long now!

Its Friday today
hope this weekend is a nice one for you - lots of plotting and planning for debt freeness, I can hear it, not long now!
I know this is controversial but although I am plotting CC debt freeness I won't consider myself debt free until the mortgage has gone as far as I am concerned that is a debt like any other
So it is a case of moving on to part 2 and as my mortgage is about 240K (really annoys me that unless I ring up I can only get a correct balance once a year I would love to be able to see it online:mad:)190K of which is at the moment on interest only that is a mountain to climb so from April that will be the next thing to tackle it has to be paid off by April 2023 so 11 years to do it which at the moment seems impossible but who knows we do have the property in Lanzarote to sell as the back up repayment vehicle but A) It may not be saleable it certainly isn't at the moment andI would really like to keep it hence the need to throw as much as possible at the mortgage - can you tell I was looking at the mortgage website last night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: we are due to end our current deal in August next year so need to decide whether to move more over to repayment or just rely on the offset I am looking forward this year to see our annual statement to see how much offsetting has saved us
And as I consider it a debt that means I can stay on the dfw boards :T:T:T:T

I see where you're coming from, don't worry about that. And it means its more important than ever to get some other income ... if I see anything that makes sense, I'll let you know.
Actually, one thing that might be a *very* **minor** earner, is to get onto the lecture circuit of WI, U3A, that sort of thing - you're legally qualified, you're a foster mother, you're web savvy, you've got all that weight loss under your belt (so to speak).
A distant cousin of mine did it for a while - she was a tutor to the children of the Sultan of Brunei (really!) so she didn't need the money and donated it to her maid back in Brunei, but it might be something ....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

The WI pay for lectures? Wow. Something I may need to check out too...0 -

Yep that was my first thought too - I thought you would be expected to do it for some afternoon tea (although I could be tempted I love afternoon tea:o) (as long as the tea is coffee :rotfl:) - yes I know lots of people will tell me that the WI is no longer just Jam and Jersualem and I did love Calendar Girlsbut somehow the old image sticks
