Boo to the Euro cheque - years ago Mum lived in Spain, and used to send me money to pay bills. I once banked a cheque for an amount that worked out at around 500, which cleared after around 2 weeks, but 3 months later they reversed the transaction in error. I was not amused.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Morning
Euro cheque now showing in my account but as the result of charges and exchange rate fluctuation I have lost £24.98 out of £1000  so a lesson learnt I will not be accepting Euro cheques in future
Not having a good time financially I have a potential claim being made against me (which I can't go into here) which should have been covered by insurance but because of being sold the wrong policy by a firm that has gone out of business and therefore unlikely to be able to get anything back from and is not covered by UK guarantees - which could amount to several thousand pounds - I should have checked the policy more carefully so yet another lesson learnt
Just goes to prove that you are never too old to learn :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Felt sick when I first realised couldn't sleep etc. but I have decided that worrying about it is not going to change anything and in the scheme of things we have been through worse and its only moneycan't believe I am saying that
so I will deal with as and when it happens and take it on the chin
On better news MBNA statement out today and shows some of my PAD payments already which is nice and I have paid a further £5.01 off the balance today.
Have a good weekend

I hope it all gets better for you DT. Definitely a lesson learned re the cheque, banks have us over a barrel sometimes.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Thats a lot to lose off the cheque, but nowhere near as bad as ebay and paypal fess .
Sorry to hear you have a claim that the insurance won't cover. Are the underwriters still going? Even though the firm has shut if the policy is still valid there must be some way to confirm and sort the cover. One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

The policy is valid it is just the wrong sort of policy which I would have known if I had read it properly but didn't
So now need to sort a new policy but obviously that is not going to help the present situation - a potentially very expensive lesson but could have been even worse so I have to be grateful for that and at least I won't be caught out like that again

I'm guessing its for the villa, so more of a case like in the UK where people have normal insurance rather than landlord insurance?
Just not something you needed at the moment, I guess you wll just need to get some extra rentals to cover the costs. But once you have that dream job costs won't matter

Hope the claim doesn't end up to much, but there's no point worrying over something you have no control over.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
