Any ideas!!!!

Hi all,
posting this here because not sure where else to put it. My mate has just found out that his little one has ran up a £150 bill on there ipod downloading stuff without the parents knowledge. Has anyone found themselves in this position and managed to reclaim the money. It was all done via direct debit card.
If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.

I don't know the answer to this either, but didn't they get emails confirming their purchases on itunes each time one was downloaded? My DD has just got her ipod and I have downloaded one purchase for her, I got an email confirming the amount etc within a couple of hours of the purchase (it came to the email I registered her itunes account with).

I'm thinking no pocket money/lots of household chores for child, until the bill is paid off!

If that was my child they would be working that money off. also what were they thinking having a debit card registered to the ipod if they were letting their teen use it.

Not sure on the e-mails. As far as i know the parents have a account set up and some how the nipper has managed to access it without question. Its not untill the damage has been done they have found out whats happened............

Whenever I download something on my iPhone I Have to put in my password to verify the purchase, could they change the password?

With regards to getting a refund, Apple generally have an 'all sales are final, no refunds' policy. I had to contact them yesterday morning as I discovered my account had been hacked following the Playstation Network problems and someone had used my account to purchase a poker game and poker chips (only £13.78 but still £13.78 of my money!) - I discovered this had happened after I received an email receipt on Saturday morning. They have refunded me, but the email does actually state:
Please note that this is a one-time exception to our sales policy.

As an aside, I have to wonder why someone would bother to buy poker chips with stolen account details. I mean, it's not like they can
even exchange them for real money if they win anything. At least if you buy music then you're buying something worthwhile. Ah well.

You have to have a password to access the store on Itunes and it clearly asks if you want to download the item, I am pretty sure your mate will be liable as under 16's can't get a debitcard and giving a child access to an itunes account without password protecting the password is asking for trouble.

My iTunes emails take up to 3 days! I doubt there's much they can do, it's their responsibility to protect their acc with the password! Lesson learnt, and make sure their LO pays it off with work.
