Evening all
DS2 had his first ever swimming lesson today. He was so apprehensive before, but ended up loving it. :T It's going to take a while before he gets the hang of it, but I was really worried he'd hate it. He's not too confident around water and is really fussy about his face and head, so it's been a good first experience for him. The teacher is great, though. She used to teach DS1 (doesn't look any older, either) and may well end up being his driving instructor, as she does both jobs. :j
The less said about work, the better.
I'm thinking about giving up my additional responsibility to maybe give me a bit of breathing space, so I'll have to look at the finances.
The loan has come through and I've paid off the credit cards and transferred the rest into my savings acount. :T Time to get some quotes for the guttering etc. I'll make a list of all the jobs I need to do, sort them in priority order and see how much we can get done.
Since I came home I have:
taken DS2 swimming
borrowed some bling from a friend to go with my outfit for tomorrow
bought a take-away for DH
made scrambled eggs on toast for my tea
stripped DS2's bed and re-made it
collated and sorted laundry
put WM and TD on (little time for pegging out this weekend)
checked e-mails
I still need to do:
DW, our bed, litter tray, more laundry, quick tidy round of the worst bits, put clean clothes away, pack bag for tomorrow, pack bag for DS2 for tomorrow, sort stuff about tomorrow with DS1 and maybe do some work.
DH is hoping to be off by 8am tomorrow. We'll see. He's out tonight and not the best at getting up. I won't be around much on here this weekend, even on Sunday, as I've got an unannounced lesson observation next week and need to get organised. I can't really afford the time to go away this weekend, but can't get out of it, so Sunday afternoon/evening could be interesting. Looks like I'll mainly be lurking (at best) for a while.
Hope everyone's ok, as I've only read the last few posts.
Take good care. x0 -

Well, as predicted, not much flying done today. I had a lovely afternoon watching Little Miss Sunshine play with water & bubbles in the garden though

DH has done some ironing, dog has been walked, dinner cooked (also by DH), garden watered (I know rain is forecast, but this is officially the driest part of the country & often misses us!) & the car has passed its 1st MoT :j I have printed off 2 pictures for art tomorrow - just can't decide on whether to paint my dog (a picture of, not literally!) or flowers (again). can I just say - having been brought to the level of horrified 'how did THAT happen' that those Flyladies with little children PLEASE PLEASE make doing things with them the priority - park/painting/playing/puddle jumping and anything else 'absorbing'...
time doesn't fly - it whooshes...
I CANNOT believe that it was TWENTY years ago when Nirvana were in the charts with 'Smells like teen spirit...'
and Flyladying - with it's area-a-day-house-decent-in-a-week system (and I'm talking the Flylady thread here) will help because you will have free time for fun (once you're 'on top')
anyway

Anyone have any tips for a quick way to defrost the freezer and fridge, need doing desperately but are full of food, will take weeks to empty?
Thank youReal men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.

If you have cool boxes get them loaded up with what you want to keep. Put the 'loosest' stuff in the bottom (ie peas/bread) and the more solid stuff in the top. If you have frozen icepacks put the on the very top. Cover with blankets and put in the coolest, shadiest place you haveavailable. Cover with blankets/towels to insulate
Switch off fridge/freezer
get hot (boiled) water and place in bowls.jugs whatever you have available in top of freezer
get a towel in the bottom of freezer
close door for 15 mins
replace hot water with hotter water
keep scraping/shifting frost
when clear (of ise) and dry (because you've dried it) switch back on...
restock rapidly as soon as back to temp
BUT
what I do is pack all stuff back in THEN switch on
I also run down as much as poss when I know it will need doingDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Thank you, I usually just run it down but think someone did not close the door properly last night, it did not defrost anything but did get a big ice build up.
The fridge's seal has gone so get alot of ice build up there, really need to replace it but not high on the list at the moment.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.

Morning all
Action Stations here today loads to do.
Slow cooker is on pork and veg in it.
Wm is on
Listies got out and ready
Cleaning stuff and hoover out and ready (OH didn't hoover for me yesterday, as he was too 'busy' cleaning his bike!!)
About to list on ebay all the stuff left over from last time, hopefully fingers crossed they should still be showing on my account.
Then to list all the other items.
It rained here over night, so now at least the fluffy dstuff off the dandlions has stopped flying around. It looks like rain again in a bit, and I have a load of stuff to go out on the line, I really don't want to use the TD, but might have to if I want to get things dry.
Have a good day
