Suspect you will now be hit by their new 2% fee max £100 if your appeal succeeds.

Will I still be hit by 2% handling fees even if my original application was prior to their announcement of introducing BT fees? If that's the case I might not try to appeal as 6 mos. not worth a hassle with fees. I will just just wait for a couple of months before making another application.

Even though my app was pre-fees (and I confirmed this every time I called for a progress check) they insisted that there was a 2% fee once I actually got the card. In the end they offered to waive it as they'd messed me around so much (so give it a go - ask to speak to a manager as I did) but honestly, this crowd are useless!

Refer them to their Intranet note dated Friday 8th December on changes to credit card T&Cs. It's quite specific that all S&S cards applied on or before Sunday 10th December are fees free for BTs until 1 Feb 07

Thanks for this. I won't trot out the whole story now as I've already posted an indecently long whinge about my experience applying for this card on stoozing.com but suffice to say I was told I could have an increased credit limit by transferring the limit from my Smile card. They then cut that limit down but refused me a CL increase on this card and had no record of my previous conversation with them. I just got a letter yesterday saying they would consider a CL increase in 3 months. I had assumed this was useless since they were now insisting on a fee, but I may well try pointing out that I applied for the card and received it in advance of 10 December. Of course the chances are that they won't now consider the CL increase until after 1 Feb anyway!

Will they know what I'm talking about if I say 'intranet note'? Doesn't that mean it's an internal thing that I wouldn't have been party to?

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Say a friend who works there explained all about it when you were slagging them off to him!

I made an application on the 07/12/06 and been turned down initially but has made a successful appeal. Thanks for the tips Stevemcol.

I received the card a week ago with a paltry limit make a BT to Egg money and confirmed that no BT fees. I'll just wait and see.

I am also in the process of requesting an increase in credit limit and have sent again my last 3 months bank statements and proof of my savings as the one I sent on my appeal has already been destroyed as told by the CS staff.
  • You will need to get in quick as ALL BTs on Co-op 0% cards (except Yorkshire BS) made or after 1st Feb will attract a 2.5% uncapped fee

I am aware of that and I'm hoping that I'll hear some positive news next week and if not no worries at all. Next stop Yorkshire bank.

Just an update guys. I rang Stroud and Swindon today after sending my recent 3 months bank stements and savings and they have increased my credit to £4500 as I was initially given a paltry limit of £1000. I requested another £3500 BT from my Egg money and has confirmed (twice) that there is no handling fees.:j

Also what I like about S&S is that there BT takes only 4 working days. It's one of the quickest of all my current stooze cards.:D

My stoozing career for 2007 is off a good start.;)
