.. and why the phone that came with such long and expensive contract "is only woth about £30"?0
-
because my orginal phone broke and was only 6 months guarantee, I will just have to go to the bank and see if I can get a loan0
-
You have to make repayments for any loan.
It will be less expensive just keep paying £40 p.m. to the mobile provider.
Also, I thought that all phones had at least 1 year warranty.0 -

Because he needed some phone to make/receive calls and to use the airtime he is still paying for?0

I think the best option available with you is to take the phone with you or to just hand it over to either your friend or relative if they are ready to pay the monthly rental for the phone to the company. Otherwise the other option is to take the phone with you and use it.0

Just out of interest, which mobile network is it?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

You really need to get in touch with your carrier. You aren't likely to end up paying £40/mo for the duration of your contract. The new rules state that they can only charge you an amount equal to what it costs them if they lose you as a customer.
For £40/mo I will assume you had an Iphone?0 -

Hi T_T - I just took out a contract and they said over the phone about that, but I still don't entirely understand how that works in terms of "equal amount to what it costs them to lose you" - how do they work that out?Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!

I would expect what it cost them to be (lost income)-(variable costs of the service). Only they know the real cost of the services and I'd expect it to be very low (the variable part as against the fixed part).0
