Skype no longer works on 3 Skypephone...

    I got a text from 3 today saying they were withdrawing the Skype on Three service from October 1st. Having bought 4 S1 and S2 Skypephones this comes as a blow especially when they were sold as free Skype calls for life. Is there anything can be done to have the phone costs recovered or at least replaced?

    To be precise - it's Microsoft disabling older protocols and access from all devices using it.

    Does it mean Skype will be free to use on newer phones or is the free Skype being completely withdrawn.

    Skype to Skype calls continue to be free, although obviously data charges are applicable etc.
    The '3' version of Skype operated in a very specific way. It is this that is being withdrawn/disabled.

    Whatever the reason for withdrawal of the service, is THREE not liable for the promise of free skype calls until it goes bust?

    If you had read the posts of this thread, for example #20, it would appear not. The cessation appears to have been outside the control of Three.
