Skype no longer works on 3 Skypephone...

I'm in Liverpool where my wife and I have used the Skypephone S2 since it came out. My wife still buys a £10 top-up from 3 from time to time (we're not great phone users) and I gave up buying credit last year and yet both phones work well on Skype. My phone, however, has developed a problem, which somebody might be able to throw some light on.
On switching it on a few days ago I was presented with what looks like a black leaf, which is hiding the whole of the phone's display preventing me from seeing anything. When I press on the face it tends to grow. Does anybody have an idea of what it might be and how I can deal with it?
Thanks,Ed.0 -

sounds like you have cracked/broken the lcd glass
I don't want to hijack this very important discussion re: inability to use Skype, but I would quickly like to say that my screen does not appear to be broken or cracked and any further information/advice/thoughts will be most welcome. To this end can the moderator please place my request for information in the right thread or advise where that should be?:o

My 3 S2 skype phone has been working fine but these days it is not connecting at all to the network. I get "emergency calls only". Would this be part of the policy of disconnecting skype phones from skype or a separate problem? I am not just disconnectd from skype but everything.0

Try the sim in another phone.0

An interesting update on a friend's ZTE "F102" Skype phone. The Skype application froze and wouldn't reset, even after taking the battery out for a couple of minutes. Trying to update the application resulted in a message saying the security certificate of the application was invalid... This is using the "update Skype" application on the phone which downloaded the update from Three UK.
The "fix" was to set the date to the current date, as it reverts to 01/01/2009 when the battery has been removed, then update the application and it worked!
Saved the phone being dumped. While the F102 isn't the best phone around, it still works with Skype on 3.0 -
Still available! Visit this page. mobile.three.co.uk/pc/Live/pcreator/live/100001/skype/skype
Now if you lucky enough your phone is "compatible".
In my case it isn't. I have a galaxy s2 and three doesn't let me download the app.
But! with a little trick I could and it works fine.
The trick is this:
Open your browser and type in to the address bar about:debug than hit GO.
Nothing will happen don't be excited.
Now press your menu button on your phone. Go settings-debug-UAString. Here you can change the name of your browser. In my case I have chosen galaxy s1. Now exit the menu and try download the skype app again.
Download and install the app.
Login and enjoy.
I have tested it on a brand new payg sim that has never been topped up. Worked!
Good luck!0 -
My old Skype Phone S2 from Three continues to work well on Skype with a new PAYG SIM (obtained in January 2013). There is no credit on the SIM card and never has been, it still gives completely free Skype calls via the Three voice network (as opposed to using data). Call quality is not as good as the Skype App on my iPhone, but it works very reliably.
The Skype App on my iPhone 5 is poor at picking up calls, everything is set correctly in "notifications" and the App is set to never go offline. It seems to be a common problem with that particular App...0 -
In mobile phone language, upgrade means less and now pay for what was free and "life" means until we kill it off.Be happy...;)0
