Tesco Price Checker Thread #8

I'm finding that Tesco are choosing to match up less and less items nowadays. For example, a receipt I submitted yesterday had only 5 of the 23 items on it price matched - needless to say Tesco were cheaper. Surprise, surprise! It's far from the first time this has happened to me either.
Yet looking on the Asda site just now clearly 15 of the items they didn't match are there on their site and, in most cases, cheaper than Tesco.
Seems like this is the new Tesco way to get round paying up - just say most items are N/A and know that the customer can't query it...job done, no money needs to be paid out
(very) selective price matching saves them money.0 -

In all case either the number or the size was different.
EG Mission Deli wraps come up as N/A (actually they are only £1 at moment in Tesco but thats not the point). there are 8 in the Tesco pack but Asda's website suggests only 7 (which I doubt), hence N/A. (7 is more than 10% different from 8 BTW)
So a mistake by Asda could N/A your perfectly good item.
Although this doesn't apply in all cases, as sometimes Tesco just seem to make it up.I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!
Quidco and Topcashback, £4,569
Shopandscan, £2,840
Tesco Double The Difference, £2,700
Thomson EU261/04 Claim, £1,700
British Airways EU261/04 Claim, EUR12000 -
After getting a small refund every week in the beginning, Tesco is now always cheaper than ASDA.
I wonder if Tesco suddenly lowered their prices or if all the unmatch items are the expensive items. 35-50% of items are always unmatched.
I'm not being a proper moneysaver right now and are buying a lot of brandnames so maybe ASDA aren't selling any brandnames?0 -
Hi Everyone :j
Used the Tesco Price Checker for the first time yesterday - usually shop at Sainsbugs!
However, I came across the meal deal thread on Grabbit and gave it a go........
Totally beside myself earlier with excitement when my email from Tesco came through - given me a voucher for £9.49! I bought 2 of the meal deals with the Turners, some cereal and 6 bottles of their own Naturally lemon washing up liquid, all on the same receipt. You can tell I'm a novice:rotfl:
Thank the Lord I didn't buy any more of the washing up liquid at 40p a go - was going to buy the case - I wouldn't have ended up with anything!:o
AppleYou can't have everything.........where would you put it?0 -
just been to tesco eaglescliffe to use my £11 voucher and girl said she had'nt seen one before but they have been informed that all vouchers now must be checked by a team leader, since when don't know? but its a little shop0

:j HELP!!! I have a burning question!
what happens if.... there is an offer at T. such as any 2 for £1.50
and you buy 1 variety which A. sell... and 1 variety which they do not
on the price check does it only compare the one item which A. sell, at full price???
meaning that you have received the special offer at Tesco but will also get the difference refunded on the 1 item which it can compare at Asda?
Could be very useful if this is the case
Thanks in advance0 -

If you buy an item on offer at T they will compare the reduced price you paid for the item with the full price of the item at asda regardless of whether any of the other multibuy items which you got compare or not
i.e. if something is on 2 for £1.50 they will compare the price of 75p each with asda full price (even if that asda price is an N/A IYSWIM)"You've got to cut your cloth to suit your wassname" Terry (my Dad), 1944-present0 -

Thank you very much for that gemnjam...I'm just trying to figure out how to make this RTD thing work in my favour (DTD seemed so easy in comparison to this!)
I was trying to think along the lines of the whole meal deal thingy...what makes it such a good deal and if i can be more imaginative to maximise RTD savings using other products
bit stuck tho TBH!0 -

Part of the problem is that both Asda & Tesco's change their offers. Once Asda end their offers (one example I can think of, Glade candles which Asda had at half price/£1.75 to Tesco's £3.47.) Once Asda had moved on to a different offer & put them back to their normal price of £3.50, then Tesco's were indeed cheaper.
Other things, like quantumatic refills, I think have always been dearer at Asda (£8.33 in Asda, £6 in Tesco I believe.)
As the offers change, so does the possibilty of getting a voucher I suppose.0 -
Has anyone received their gift card from the DTD last week???
Im in two minds whether to email CS of phone them.... any advice?0
