Police forced entry, HELP

You're obviously a somewhat useless and uncaring child.
How come the neighbours didn't have your number to call?
Please don't try to transfer the guilt you feel for not being there for your mother onto the police.
It's you that has let down your mum, not the police or your neighbours.
At least the neighbours [bet you don't even know their names] loved your mum enough to check up on her, unlike yourself.

Hi guys, The topic here is police forcing entry to a house and doing damage - not "terrorism" or "police tactics" and so on.
Please stay on topic here and if you want to discuss those issues separately - take it to The Dog & Duck or to The Arms.Forum_Team wrote:
What's wrong with going off-topic?
The purpose of this site is to help people save money so we'd prefer people to keep MoneySaving discussions on the main boards on topic. Taking them off-topic can be confusing for new users and in discussions linked to from the weekly email/guides/news stories/blogs makes it especially difficult for people to find the information they want.
If you've been asked to keep a thread on track but this hasn't happened, off-topic posts may be removed. We encourage community, but not thread derailment. The Forum Team has therefore been instructed to prioritise its time on the MoneySaving boards and not the ones dedicated to off-topic discussion; The MoneySavers' Arms and Discussion Time. For more about those please read What kind of discussions aren't allowed?

The opinion that the police should prioritise the potential of saving a life over the cost of a new door is nothing to do with bling faith in authority. As has been said previously, had they decided not to act on the advice of the neighbour and there had been an old lady dying in her front room there would be a public outcry!
As for your comment about walking scot free away from murder I would also hope the police would do the same again if a suspected terrorist runs from them, jumps a barrier, and heads towards a train. Yes he may have turned out to not have any terrorist intentions and he certainly didn't deserve to die but had he been innocent of other crimes and not run away he would not have been shot.

He did not run away.....that was a lie perpetuated by the police. Did you not listen to any of the inquest reports? None of the men pursuing him identified themselves as being police officers. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Are we still on topic here??? lolHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0

Sorry, posted that before I read Squeaky's post. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Well if he hadn't overstayed his visa then he wouldn't have been shot, would he?
Not here at least. The Brazilian Police dispense their own "brand" of justice.

I'm sorry, what?!
Firstly, who the hell has their family's neighbour's phone numbers? That isn't a normal, everyday thing - my Mum or gran saw my great gran almost every day, talked to her daily, but they didn't have her neighbour's numbers or vice-versa - why would they?
Secondly, unless I've missed a major post somewhere, he knew she was with family, why presume he doesn't check on her? How is he useless for not being with her 24/7?!
You're assuming a hell of a lot of facts here.
I can say my great gran, if she had a couple thousand pounds worth of damage done to her house, would've only had 1 option - to sell. Her only capital was in the house and none of our family would've had or been able to get the money for her.
It seems to be that the OP does care for his mother and knew where she was, however due to neighbours assumptions (which seem not unlike yours) she now has damage to her house she's goingto struggle to afford to repair. Tell me in what way that is fair?
I know there's no ideal solution, but an elderly lady who's possibly living only on a state pension having to find that sort of money, when she wasn't there - that's ridiculous0 -

That would be me. I see my Mum daily, but I still have both the next door neighbour and the two ladies across the roads numbers and they mine. It hurts nothing.0 -
My neighbours have my mum's telephone number and I am far from being elderly - if there's a problem with the house when we're away then I know that they will contact her.
The neighbours have also got my telephone number so that if they have a problem or need anything (especially when we had the snow) they can contact me without going out.
I'm surprised that the OP's mum didn't tell the neighbours herself - mind you after all this I doubt the neighbours will have the same neighbourly spirit in the future.2014 Target;
