Eden Project?

Afternoon everyone.

My OH is hoping to take me to Eden Project on Wednesday. We'll be borrowing one of their wheelchairs as I have M.E and find it exhausting to walk and it causes me pain.

On the website it says that carers get in free. My OH is my carer so does this include him? Or is it just for those who have a designated carer e.g. from social services etc?

Thank you in advance.:grouphug:

Morticia.........worth looking on their website. Might be something on there about it or at least a phone number to ring.
We went last year (I could walk then) and the cost was part of a coach trip to Torquay. Well worth the visit and so much to see. I'm sure you'll love it:)

Oh silly me............I see you've already looked at their website. I'm sure there's a phone number on it somewhere that would help. Failing that try the tourist information for that area. They should know.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Thanks. :) I've had a look and have emailed them (I have a phone phobia :o).

I've been to Eden Project twice before, both when I was more mobile, and I absolutely loved it. I adore photography so it made for some great pictures. :)

Unfortunately the M.E has worsened and so has my ability to walk with it. :(

  • Hi, generally, anyone accompanying you is classed as your carer and I have never been asked to prove any proof when I have been.

Just as an aside, are you aware that the NT do an "Access for All" admit one free pass for those people with disabilities? Your Carer can enter any NT property free of charge using this. Tel: 01793 817634. NT places are usually wonderful for photography. Hope you enjoy the Eden Project - I love it there.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Wow! Really?! I didn't know that. I'll check it out. :o I'm not really up on the whole concessions thing or anything as I feel weird using them, even for my husband, :o but I'll check it out. :)

I understand, so do I, but the cost reduction makes the difference between me being able to go as opposed to not going.

ETA: You are aware of RADAR keys for locked disabled loos too? They are free now - i.e. no deposit needed and available from Council Offices. Can you tell I have been getting organised recently?!

I'm sure if your husband is your carer that should be fine. Best to give them a ring beforehand. :) My stepfathers my mums carer, and is usually counted as such. She uses a wheelchair.

Btw, I am so J. :p I've wanted to see the Eden project, from while it was in development. Please take loads of pics, and post them here. Pretty please! :D

It definitely would save money. :o One of the reasons we don't go out that much is because it isn't cost effective, which is a shame because I want to do nice things on my okay days.

I've just googled RADAR key because I didn't know what it was :o. Such a handy thing to have!

Being organised is a good thing. :) I kind of feel weird applying for concessions because I always feel like someone else is more in need :o but my CPN says that if I weren't entitled then they'd say no and that you never know what help you can get until you apply. :o

I will. :D It's such an amazing place. It might leave me bedbound for a week afterwards but just seeing it again will be awesome. :D

    I didn't know this! Thank you <3

I will go to my local council next week and ask about it.

It's taken me 6 years to get round to getting the RADAR key :o

I agree with CPN; these things are to enable us to do as many "normal" things as possible. It doesn't stop me feeling guilty for using concessions, but I also strongly feel that if we don't use them, they can easily be taken away under the excuse that there is "no demand" for them.
