Morning Mad, Jeferey, CW and Everyone :hello:
Bit of a long one this morning but it is coupon-related - sort of;)

DD has decided that, after 12 months in her own home, it is time she had her own pet that she is wholly and totally responsible for. After lots of heartsearching, along with in-depth research on the pro's and con's of different animals - kitten, rabbit etc - and the practicalities of looking after them, she finally decided on ..... a budgie :).

Now, don't get me wrong, I love budgies but, although we have had an array of animals and birds (dogs, cats, hens etc) over the years, the children have only really dealt with the 'nice' bits. They loved taking the dog for a walk (on warm, sunny days) and collecting the eggs from the hens, but give them a shovel and ask them to clean up after any of the animals and you wouldn't see them for dust.

Anyway, she went against my advice that "you can't really go wrong with a goldfish as your very own, totally responsible for, first pet" and chose this sweet, if somewhat timid-looking young budgie. Talk about appearances being deceptive. This nice, quiet, sweet, timid little thing has turned into an absolute tyrant

It has gone from emitting the odd cute little 'chirrup' when it sees her, to erupting into an ear-piercing series of squawks (she was hoping to have deep and meaningful conversations such as 'Who's a pretty boy?")
 Instead of daintily pecking it's seed, it now hurls it out of the feeder, all over the cage and then squawks at her again . It also seems to be on some suicidal mission as it keeps trapping itself upside-down, belly-up between the feeder and the attached perch:eek:

Now, I'm putting it down to attention seeking but have suggested she spends more time trying to bond as it may be missing the other budgies it was with at the pet shop but when she tries to stroke it, it goes one of two ways - it either turns its back on her, stretches out a wing and a leg and ignores her or, tries to rip her finger off
. (She wouldn't have had these problems with a goldfish! ;))

Does anyone know if we have a 'stroppy budgie thread' anywhere on these boards, where she could discuss her problems and concerns with peeps in a similar situation?

So now my -'coupon related' question
:D does anyone know any bird food manufacturers who are happy to send coupons / vouchers out to budgie-lovers and are there any vouchers around for psychological counselling for stressed out budgies and their owners? :)

Iv'e got 3 birds, 2 budgies and a cockatiel. do you know if its a boy or girl? girls can be really aggressive and screechy. Hope he/she settles in time.

well didnt do to bad on my first outing with multiple coupons yesterday. went to tesco got 1 x fairy gel 1 x fairy softner and 1 x quantumatic kit, used £5 for finish and £1 for each of the fairy items total then came to 6p over my left over DTD voucher. Then when got home entered receipt and this morning i have a £10odd TD voucher back from tesco to use next time.

didnt go too bad although the SA was very friendly at the start offering me extra schools voucher etc that people didnt want but by the time it got to pay 6p she had stopped conversating with me and the lady behind me looked like i had wasted half her day waiting (took seconds to do and i bet she didnt only pay 6p LOL).

think i may go try some at asda mext time as thier sa's seem to be nicer and have a baby box coupon to use b4 the baby event finishes.

:eek:absolutely not  Asda and Huggies do home visits to check that you are indeed pregnant. You do get warning though, so you can stuff a cushion up your top.

:rotfl:Sorry, couldn't resist! Yes of course you can register, men are also allowed to register - as are cats and dogs and several of my DD's dollies. Nappy cake sounds such a nice idea:)

PMSL as well thanks, so I'm ok to print a few does it matter if I use same address:)
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

    Hi PartMouse,

The pet man didn't know if it was a boy or a girl because of it's age, but we are leaning towards it being a girl (not really basing it on anything other than gut feeling and loud, shrieky squawk ;)).

Any ideas why it would want to go head-down, belly-up on the feeder perch?

You can only print two anyway so its not a problem.

If you have access to a different computer (as I do) use a different name and address, ie, follow the example of people on here, register the cat, the dog, budgie or even a doll, and yes, your children too.

Jonty you could try the RSPCA for advice they might have a bird specialist/volunteer who can give advice to problem birds.

Otherwise google the problem and see what comes up.

    good luck

    Attention newbies

Until I came on here I did not realise the importance of getting extra clubcards from tesco and even Sainsburys nectar cards.

The rest of us on here have several clubcards. I have 3, one for me, one for my DS and one for OH. I keep them in my bag and tend to use only 1 of them but then every now and then I use one of the others. This usually gives you more till spits but also more coupons in the mailings we get from Tesco.

The same for Sainsburys, more till spits and more coupons and points from the mailings.

So its a win - win situation for us.
