Admiral Car Insurance Renewal Quote

Last year's premium... £334. This year's quote... £347.

So, some praise for once. :j Well done Admiral for only putting my quote up £13 and also for being right in line with the cheapest quote I got on GoCompare. :money:

One happy customer staying put. First time I've ever stayed with the same car insurer two years in a row - all the previous ones have hiked the price in the second year.

Just a happy story amid all the ones about rip-off renewal quotes.

I had a fair quote for renewal from esure this year, but in the end I moved as they altered the t&c's unfavourably.

We have also stayed with Admiral for a 2nd year. When our renewal came the price wasn't too bad but we noticed they hadn't included an on-going claim on the paperwork. When I called them to ask that they re-quote for both cars after adding the claim I was gobsmacked to be told that the price stayed the same for both cars!
I actually called them back at least twice to confirm with different people that it was correct.
After shopping around I found at least one slightly cheaper quote and when I called Admiral to ask if they could at least match it they actually bettered it.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • My Admiral quote was only £30 more than I paid last year (so nothing like the 35% increases I have been advised of), and £40 cheaper than any of the comparison site quotes I found... I was also very pleased :)

I would guess what Quote if trying to imply is that you will only find out how good/bad they are when you claim and I don't think the implication was positive.
You have to think about claims experience and not just price.

fair point, but I, and I suspect an increasingly large proportion of people, regard car insurance as just another tax on motoring so buy the cheapest product they can find that gives the cover they want.

Claims experience is not something most people ever discover, I'm not aware that there is any reliable indication of the differences across companies and I'd put good money on the "less informed" majority not giving it a second thought and the "slightly better informed" relying on sites like this together with the complaints procedures & FOS to get what they are entitled to if their company starts taking the mick

I think complaints could be judged reallistically if every good experience with a company was recorded as well. Until then, if you only ever see complaints, by average the bigger companies will always have more.
Personally, I have seen really bad reports on esure, the only experience I ever had with them was good, in the only claim we have made.
Swinton, I use the local office, and they are excellent, the national call centre are perhaps more annoying, but again, they are always rubbished on here.
  • having used swinton and admiral in the past i recommend both.

Admiral actually successfully counter claimed on my behalf, when a dodgy vicar pulled out on me and i crashed into the back of him (long story). Most iinsurance negotiators wouldn't have even looked over the case notes, but admiral denied responsibility. We won

I'm now with LV+ who seem good and offer family discounts multi cars policies etc, its always worth looking on quidco as i got £20 for LV last year,

    I agree. It's a problem.
On the whole people tend to report problems and not good service.

You can check out elements of cover though (like amendment fees and cancellation fees) by reading the policy.
This can sometimes give you an indication of whether there are tons of strings attached or not and whether they are a company offering good service or trying to cash in at every opportunity.

    But I agree it's a problem.
