    Afternoon all,

Firstly I would like to say thank you to everyone that has replied, Sorry I haven’t update been rather busy!

Ok, To clear some points. I am NOT listening to gossip. I was told directly by one of the people doing it, They even went as far as trying to get me & OH to do the same thing. Normally, I admit normally I would turn I blind eye, Working on the theory that it’s none of my business, But they have gave me a run down of the money they are claiming, Making it just under £700 a month.

But on top of the person making a fraudulent claim, Her partner is working and making £1,200 after tax.

Really, The only money they pay out for is:-

    £144 a month car insurance
    Petrol
    £200 rent.

    That’s it!

AGAIN I KNOW BECAUSE I WAS TOLD VIA THE PEOPLE CLAIMING.

Thanks again for all the advice, Its been taken on board!

your missing my point I think th op has an axe to grind ,pretty sure there must be others he could dob in if he wanted to .Who the hell goes around telling everyone they are committing benefit fraud .I would not do it,but not because it is wrong but because I would be worried of being caught .I do not feel disgust for people that milk the system as if they get away with good luck to them life them life is not not scripted we are all in this rat race and we all have our own angle .It is perceived as wrong but it is even more wrong how open for abuse the system is .It is also more wrong the genuine cases that get denied .

I say let the authorities catch people out as it is not that hard if they are competent and it would pay for itself .I prefer to keep out of other peoples business ,but thats just me ,flame away .

Brian I completely agree with you, What normal person would be committing benefit fraud and then tell everyone about it!?

This couple, They REALLY don’t care because they are the type of people who have always gotten away with blue murder.

I have no axe to grind, Like I have said (In my later post) I would normally just ignore but again their getting away with it.

When I said to them, Don’t you worry you will get caught the reply was no.

When I said, Don’t you feel bad taking from people who really need the money they laughed and said no, Why would we - We need the money!

Maybe this will give you the insight of what these people are like!

If that's all they earn then they would be entitled to some housing benefit. The £200 rent is the part they need to pay towards it due to the £1200 income. Are you sure it's fraudulent? It's probably all legit. Anyway, I'd say ... I'll keep my opinion to myself.:)

    OP,
Are they claiming to be single when they live together?

Its a personal decision to report somebody, but I feel if they have admitted it and talk openly about committing fraud then they shouldn't be surprised if they get caught!

I wonder to all the people who say its none of anybody's business, what they would do if their home was burgled and I witnessed it, should I do nothing as its not affecting me and its not my business. What about a hit and run - I witnessed it, but not my business.

Karma works in funny ways. I equally believe its wrong to report somebody out of spite though.

    janninew: yes they are!

I’m not jealous or even being spiteful, Although I can see it looks that way, But I do believe is wrong is that they are claiming nearly £700 per month their not entitled too, Plus the fact they are planning on claiming for social loans to pay for a all expense paid holiday!

They pay £200 per month (Being lodgers) and maybe their claim is legit - But why go to the trouble of bragging about benefit fraud?

Thanks again for all the advice!

Probably because they think they are getting more than they feel they are entitled to. I'm guessing the Mum that's involved in this is renting a room to her sons girlfriend and she's claiming it on housing benefit and that's why there are no other bills to pay and why she is rarely there as she's actually staying with her partner in another place. Quite common...

What goes around, comes around, think of the consequences of them working out it was you. then make a decision. Also bear in mind, if they deny it and are taken to court the defence solicitor can have you summonsed on threat of imprisonment for refusing to attend, to a court to give your information in public court facing the defendants. Once a court becomes involved, the secret anonymous thing goes out of the window very quickly, 2 things then happen if they plead not guilty, they drop the case or you get dragged over the coals, either way the decision is out of your hands, people have been jailed themselves for refusing to face the people they accused in court when summonsed, all trying to do a good turn that went sour. so think first.
If you do not want to stand in court and face them, dont bother, mind your own business and live happy

Bolded part is nonsense. You do not have to give ANY personal details when reporting benefit fraud.
    It's someone else's fault.

What evidence is there to give?
All the evidence required is there already in the paperwork, and evidence of their incomes etc.
    No need for outside witnesses.

What REALLY worries me, is the number of people willing to leap to the defence of fraudsters. Isn't that similar to bragging about getting away with fraud? i.e. "I've got criminal tendencies too".

What about the karma of ignoring it? Maybe in the future the OP won't get told that someone is stealing from them because they didn't act on the knowledge they have now.
