What to do when you know someone is committing benefit fraud?

I think you should stay well out of this .You should not sh*t on your on door step .I am sure lots of people are committing fraud which is not right but why only report these people ,have you got an axe to grind .If you report these i think you should also go out and about in the community with a camera and start busting all those people with bad backs out jogging and claiming IB .
So you shouldn't phone the police when burglars break into the house next door unless you're also willing to set up a vigilante group and roam the streets arresting other burglars?0 -
Report them now."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0

your missing my point I think th op has an axe to grind ,pretty sure there must be others he could dob in if he wanted to .Who the hell goes around telling everyone they are committing benefit fraud .I would not do it,but not because it is wrong but because I would be worried of being caught .I do not feel disgust for people that milk the system as if they get away with good luck to them life them life is not not scripted we are all in this rat race and we all have our own angle .It is perceived as wrong but it is even more wrong how open for abuse the system is .It is also more wrong the genuine cases that get denied .
I say let the authorities catch people out as it is not that hard if they are competent and it would pay for itself .I prefer to keep out of other peoples business ,but thats just me ,flame away .0 -

Brian, you might be happy paying £700 a month for these people, but i am not. Yeah sure there are lots of people committing fraud, and we can't shop them all, but this is something the OP can actually do something about. Why not? It has to start somewhere.
Report them annonymously. I have done it once before and they asked for a description of the person, height, tattoos etc, so they must 'spy' on them or something first.DFW Long Hauler 292 / Sealed Pot Challenge Member #1452

Report them. You will not have to face them in court. The authorities have to have hard evidence (which they will gather) not just your word before they prosecute anyway.
If it goes to court, the defence are entitled to know who reported it, and the DWP have to supply the names.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

And if it's reported anonymously?
Why are YOU trying to put people off doing the right thing?0 -

The person they reported was found to have not been committing any benefit fraud. No wonder he was peeved by the antics of these interfering busy bodies.0 -
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO COURT IF YOU REPORT SOMEONE FOR BENEFIT FRAUD!!!!! I have done it, I even gave my real name and address, the DWP call the person in to question them under caution, the name of the person who reported them is never ever revealed, the case went to court, I was not called to give evidence, my name was not mentioned and the person got sent to prison.
People would never report fraudsters if they had to give evidence or their name was given, the DWP rely on members of the public to report these people and wouldnt risk losing the publics support by giving out their names would they. Those who commit benefit fraud should be reported as sooner or later the goverment are going to run out of funds and those who genuinly need the money wont get it because those who are working, or living with someone who is working and claiming benefits they shouldnt be are taking it all.
If the OP has an axe to grind with the fraudsters is irrelevant if she or he knows someone who is commiting fraud then report them ASAP0
