I have seen items sold as the real item then the buyer being sent a link which is stupid0

Interesting thread, only time I've been ripped off were for real items that didn't turn up, both UK!! whereas np with stuff from HK, Aus, US, Thailand
I think reporting scam merchants, links pyramid and such is great, but surprised people are worried about 'policing' CD's DVD's which are sold as copies or indeed anything else that is tangible (pets and livestock excluded) as you have large industry groups that do this anyway. with respect to the photos mentioned I think the appropriate thing is to report to the Scotland yard unit, I say this for two reasons, one it may well be them or other agencies that have posted them, or they may wish to pursue and track a 'real' onevBulletin getting better!0 -
I have seen an auction - someone selling a COPY CD but he states its for 'backup' purposes only and you must delete any tracks you do not alreay own once you have received the disc! Surely he is not allowed to sell this?2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0

kit I think thats a bit of a grey area and one that isn't just unique to ebay (downloads etc) - technically you can backup stuff and i think sell it as long as someone already has the original. I believe by saying that the person buying it must only buying it as a backup copy you are shifting the blame onto the buyer - if they do not have the original i.e. the copyright to go with it then they are the one at fault, seems like a bit of a loophole and this is only my limited knowledge but i think the seller could get the item pulled if ebay wanted to but doubt they'd get naru'd?? anyone else know anything clearer on this one?Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
Just a quick question - when you report, is it relatively anonymous? I.e. the person who's auction you are reporting doesn't know its you, right? Not that I have any personal vendettas, I just don't want something to come back and bite me on the bum so to speak.
Plus, you mentioned there was a way to report via email as opposed to the little one-at-a-time box in the eBay help section?
It is REALLY annoying me seeing people selling "e vouchers" on eBay - i.e, the codes that are on sites like this for free!! Plus, knowing that some of those poor buyers will find out that the code isn't valid or it gets turned down because they weren't sent it legitimately.

I have report hundreds (maybe thousands) and not one seller has every emailed me to say I report it! Its 100% annoymous!0

Hi Bluep, like wirm says your report stays anonymous, the seller does not know who reported him.
