Well, as predicted, not an NSD, but a low spend day.
Just back from the dentist and I'm rather depressed as I have to get four teeth out and that means a denture  My gums have receded so badly from years of dedicated smoking that I am losing my teeth. I packed in smoking 4 years ago, sadly not soon enough to prevent this, so for all of you young 'uns thinking of or trying to give up - think about your gnashers!:naughty: It's not worth losing 'em, I'm telling you!
The only upside is that all the treatment is going to be covered via dental insurance which I get through work ( £5 per month) so that's a huge relief!
I will wait to get the extractions after me hols - cant stand the thought of going away with a sore mouth!

    Rant over - sorry folks:(

Oh dear to your teeth Jinty :(...but at least you are covered!!

I shudder to think what the dentist will want to do in a few months time once my gums have healed after the extraction she did a month ago . At least she is NHS, so not as bad as private (I hope!).

Don't blame you for waiting until after your holiday though! :o

    Hi everyone,

Trying to decide on a target for May
I haven't managed my target of 15 for the past 2 months, so do I stick with 15 and hope I eventually manage it, or lower the target???

    Hmmmm......

    I think I'll try 14 please :o

    Hi lovely gang :A
Well here we are again with another new month, it’ll be Christmas before we all know it:eek:. Page 4 already and it isn’t even May yet, so I’d better get moving...

A warm welcome to all of our newbies joining up this month - and there are lots of you. It’s great to have you on board, if you’re not sure about anything please ask, we’re very friendly and there’s usually someone around to help. Feel free to join in with the chat and general nonsense on here, we’re fairly tame (well, most of the time). Good luck with your first NSD challenge - keep posting, that’s the secret to success here.

So a big welcome to the challenge to:
Souk08 - of course you may join in, you’re very welcome. Good luck with your target

Competetive - like your attitude, go for it!! Fingers crossed you get there - good luck!

Susi_Wa - all signed up now, welcome. Well done for clearing all those debts, fingers crossed we can help you make some more progress this month - good luck.

Kerry78 - well done for being brave, you can do it. Hope the house renovations go well and good luck with your target

CompBunny - I used to be an almost daily Tatco visitor as well, if I can stop going in there, you can - I have no willpower whatsoever. Good luck and keep posting, that’s the secret to success here. Well done for giving up smoking - there are a couple of others who have done the same, you can encourage each other...

miss_t - hi and welcome, you’re sounding very organised. Hope you’re better now after your injury and good luck with making your target

Madone13 - hi and welcome, you’re right about the enthusiasm here, everyone really does get stuck in. You’ll get loads of support here if you’re struggling so keep posting and good luck!

well I loved last month so much that i thought i would join you all again for another month. This thread flys so fast, page 4 and May hasn't even started yet. Glad to see all the familiar faces again and we all did so well last month (considering the circumstances, kids holidays, bank holidays) May is going to be a doddle I'm sure. I think I am going to stick to my 15 though this month. 15 NSD for me please.

    Good luck all

Hi all, Can I join in please?

I'm trying to get rid of my CC debt as the 0% ends on the 22nd :(. It's my birthday on the 7th (OH is lovely and says he will pay for dinner/drinks), my best friend is the day after, and another close friend is on the 22nd.

To make it even worse I have this week off work (Good - I save £20 getting to work, Bad - last time I had a week off I spent loads), so I really need to keep an eye on my spending.

Can I aim for 15 please?

    Hiya!

I very nearly reach my target in April, so for May I am setting the same target of 7 NSD. I think it may be easier this month with not so many bank holidays but I do have a few birthdays.

Well it is now nearly 4 months to my wedding......dust of those hats ladies.....! Jo :A

    Morning!!

This month I'm going to have to be super thrifty. Paid a huge chunk off the CC (£702.08),which with all the other budgeted stuff, leaves me with £47 for the month for personal spending, Eeek!! Have done plenty of batch cooking and the freezer is brimming, although the gravy for the chicken pie turned out to be more like soup (oops).

Well done on the cc payment - that's certainly a whopper!
    Hi everyone:D

This is my first NSD challenge and I would like to go for 10 please! I hope it is doable, as May is my Birthday month, so will have to go for drinks with everyone:eek:

    Lets go for it:j:j

Welcome to the thread Competetive and all the newbies joining this month

Oh Jints, that sucks (whopps...sorry...no pun intended there :o) Am I alone in not thinking about what smoking does to your teeth and gums when considering the health risks? (not that I am a smoker anyway) Good news that it will be covered through work though x

Welcome back Spoony - thanks for getting May up and running. And many thanks to BDINI and your band of helpers for stepping into Spoony's shoes for the past few months - you've all done a fabuliscious job :T:T

    Now, I'm not sure what to do for May, I am away on holiday for some of it so I'm not sure what to do;
    • sit out this month?
    • set a target but exclude the time I'm on holiday - but that would make my target look artificially low this month?
    • set a target and not count any spends on holiday as we're taking x amount of € and that will be it but them am I cheating as that's bascially 5-7 NSD in the bag already?
    Oh what to do?

    On the upside....Episode 2 of Doctor Who tonight....ohhh I can't wait :j:j

Heh, heh! No, you're not alone in not thinking about what smoking does to your teeth - or more acurately, your gums. The thought never crossed my mind as I puffed away merrily for over 30 years - nor did any dentist EVER mention it until now, and it's too late baby!:o

I'm on hols too this month, so I adjusted my target accordingly. I dont plan to try for NSD's while I'm away as that would just be too hard/depressing. Anyhoo, I've got the spending money saved so I wont be dipping into my normal funds, if that makes sense?
You'll be missed if you're not around!:)

    On the upside....Episode 2 of Doctor Who tonight....ohhh I can't wait :j:j

    Hope you enjoy it!
