Have been playing with the spreadsheet again. I've worked out that a mere £50 to FL1 will shave another month of the freedom date. I think it would be overoptimistic to do that before payday - it depends when the kids' after school club pays my cheque in - but I've set up an online payment to do it on payday, which is 26th.
I need some encouragement, so I've decided to go and estimate how much my pay will go up in September. My hours will be increasing slightly, and I'll go up a point on the pay spine, so here's hoping I end up with enough more in my pocket to notice the difference.... OK, done that. According to my calculations, I should have an extra £130pm net. That will be very helpful.

Thanks TYO. I think most of the increase is from my hours going up, but it's nice that there's a little bit from the extra spine point. Just have to hope I can cope with the extra workload next term.
It's more hours total, and more preparation for other reasons too, because this year I had two Y7 classes doing all the same stuff, so only one lot of preparation for both, whereas next year all my classes will be different year groups. On top of that, my Y11 will be doing a different syllabus from the last time I taught it, and my Y10 are the opposite end of the ability spectrum from the only other group I've taught that syllabus to. :eek:Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Well, I enjoyed the encouragement of that salary calculation so much that I decided wanted another encouragement of the same time. I've finally got round to submitting my CTC renewal claim, so I played about with those numbers a bit and I think they've underpaid me for 2011-12, so here's hoping for a nice big boost in a few week's time.
Best wishes to all the MFW teachers - hang in there a few more days, because there's a light at the end of the tunnel now.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

English but she also does drama as well as one of the drama teacher's is on long term sick?
It's an all girls secondary school (non grammar) and she seriously struggles with all the female adolescent hormones flying around!

Hello Lois - I haven't been on your diary for a long time:o
Almost end of term nowAnd I think the vast majority of us fall off MFW/ MSE ladder at times (I certainly do!) But the fact we're on there at all is a huge thing:D

Woohoo! Tax credits have just paid me ~£1600 - no statement yet, but I assume it's the extra I'm owed for last year.
I've put £600 to mortgage, £100 to FL1, £10 to FL2 (just to keep it in the loop), £800 to savings (now looking a lot healthier) and left £90 topping up my scarily depleted current account.
This means:
I have shaved 4 months off my MFD.
The mortgage is now under £73k.
When the standard mortgage payment goes out on the 26th, total borrowing will be under £90k.
Off to update sig!Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49
