Tescos not accepting vouchers

My husband went to New Oscott Tesco this morning. He was told they now have a change of policy. For any voucher a supervisor has to be called. (They do this at Asda Minworth for my mother.) No book, magazine or paper vouchers are accepted unless you buy the product. Has anyone else found this? Is it a shop or regional thing or are all Tescos doing this now? Thanks.

My tescos were still accepting vouchers at lunchtime. They do seem to have a clampdown every so often and then things relax again so I would try again

  • Took lots of mine yesterday, infact SA grinned and said come on hand them over expecting me to give him my vouchers.

Again, it tends to be that Tescos tighten up every so often and then relax the policy again. Over the last few weeks I had several vouchers to use and have discovered that 7am is not really the best time to use them as the young male SAs are nowhere to been seen !

Brent Park don't either had a massive row with SA. Spoke to HO and no stores are meant to accept them since February.
Probably up to each individual store's management team.

I went to this particular Tesco's last week for the first time in ages and yes I had the same situation. Only 5 vouchers accepted and a supervisor had to be called to check the vouchers, no book vouchers or magazine vouchers accepted.

Also had an r'n'r and was initially told that they no longer give refunds only the difference. Argued against this as the CS guy said Tesco's policy had changed. In the end a manager came along and authorised it.

  • I've come across this a few times, the "Tesco's have changed their policy" line. Usually from a SA who doesn't like to see people getting a good deal, if I'm in the mood I'll ask her to check with her supervisor which is most satisfying when supervisor says "take them". Same store the following week, Tesco's have evidently changed their policy back again....

As others have said the younger ones are usually the best bet, they're not too bothered. And if you have a nice friendly conversation while they're scanning, that helps too!

Tescos at Brooklands have said no vouchers taken unless you've bought the product. If you try to use them the cashier rings the bell !

I had quite a few vouchers taken this morning but when I went to buy my wine this pm I was told only 1 of each voucher. This was the same cashier who took all mine this morning.
Hope I havent got her in to trouble :(

I used quite a few last night, so doubt it's a nationwide policy change.

As always, it's pot luck really.
