  • Just wanted to say that Barclays Wandsworth Town were great. Very quick and simple. :T
I walked in and asked a woman about opening a basic bank account with no overdraft and only a cashcard. She asked if I was employed at the moment and when I said yes, asked if I was sure I only wanted a basic account. I said yes, I was certain. She got me a form to fill in (just basic name, address, date of birth etc), photocopied my ID and that was that. I was there 10 minutes I reckon.
Very pleased, since after reading some of the posts here I was expecting a bit of a fight!

I imagine they'd give you a key account without much of a problem (which comes with a Visa Debit card). Remember if you're in England or Wales you might want to open it at a Scottish branch to avoid Santander.

Bretheren have you checked your credit record to see if there are any CIFAS markers?

Fraud markers, if you have any record of Fraud on your Credit Report, 99% of banks won't accept you as a customer - fact. I'd suggest ordering your 3 main credit reports to get it checked out.

How would this arise I have never committed any fraud or been accused of such an offence?

    Thanks for your help
