Alright, I'm looking at this deal at mobiles.co.uk which gives me 15 month 1/2 rental line discount, but it's 'by redemption'.

Now my question is what experience did you had with them and how are they compared to others?

The deal itself is really cheap as you get a contract for 18 months, where you pay £25/month and get a free Nokia N8, including 15 months of 1/2 line rental, leaves me with overall £268 for a great Nokia phone, including 300 minutes/texts and 500mb data on T-Mobile.

IMHO, it's a really great deal, but I'm just wondering if they're good enough to trust with 15 months of 1/2 rental.

Another thing I'm worried about is that I can't find the deal on their site, but it's easily found on omio dot com and they refer me to checkout on mobiles.co.uk.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

I think that this recent thread contains all the information you need:

mobiles.co.uk cashback scam -- small claims? trading standards? watchdog?

Pay more attention to the facts rather than to the title.

    Also this one: mobiles.co.uk cashback

    Welcome to the forum.

You may wish to experiment with the search facility - not only for this post, but if you plan to be a regular reader/contributor.

mobiles.co.uk is regularly featured in posts here. They used to have a number running simultaneously - and not complimentary - but it has eased back in recent months.

They are part of the CarPhoneWarehouse group, so they should be around for the duration.

But you need to be on your toes when it comes to claiming. Do read some of the more recent threads on them and you should also research the cashback t&c procedures etc. Remember that these cashback companies rely on a number of customers forgetting to claim, sending in claims late, wrong months' bills etc.

There are some experienced members of the forum who do make successful contract purchases from them - often going via Topcashback.com to increase the cashback. But it all comes down to filing everything scrupulously, knowing what is what before you order and putting dates in your diary for claiming.

Lastly, their customer services when it comes to responding to emails and calls is not brilliant.

You will get some interesting replies I guess, but do read through a few threads and learn!

    Good luck.

The £268 deal is for a Nokia N8 Refurbished phone - so secondhand.
Its out of stock anyway if you search mobiles co site.

The best offering for a new N8 directly from mobiles co is approximately £360 minus some topcashback or quidco, so could be something like £320 over 18 months.

The thing is that it's more likely to get a non defected N8 when it's Refurbished, than buying a new one. I don't really care if it was used as long as it works right. Yea, and it went out of stock, though they still had them in the morning.

    I don't follow the logic....

Anyway if you want a new phone in that sort of shape, get a sony arc.

Well basically, the first N8s that were made - had no defects with their screens, the ones made after December 2010 were defected, getting a refurbished one means either it's older and had a higher chance of breaking or it was sent back, because it had defects and fixed. Though, because it's out of stock, I'll probably look for other deals.

And I don't really like Sony Ericsson. The competition that I can afford is either HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S - which both are nice phones, but N8 suits me better.

Hi. I took an 18 month contract out with Tmobile that I purchased though Mobiles.co.uk. On Monday I submitted my 3rd cashback claim. Today I got an email saying my cheque will be with me within 28 days.

This is the 3rd cashback claim I have submitted since I bought the phone. I can't fault them. I have a cheque of £105 coming to me soon and hopefully another 2 of the same by the time my 18 months is up. If you are worried about them not sending cashback, then don't be. Do what they asked when you signed up and you will be fine.

Hope that helps a wee bit. :)

A huge statement from the experience of only 3 claims. When you've done dozens you won't be so complacent!

What? *shakes head at laptop screen*

Emm..... Why don't you go and do something else instead of hanging around these forums just so you can slag mobiles.co.uk Not even content with that, anyone that dare says anything positive about them, you dive in there and try to make me look like I mean nothing. Like 3 out of 3 cashback claims equals what I say is not relevant? Once I have had "dozens" like you, then I may be worthy or I will be allowed to comment on mobiles.co.uk without you being a toss pot?

I bought a contract. I have had - so far - all the money they promised. The OP asked for a bit of advice with regard this retailer. I attempted that and you come along. You are like one of these other 4 or 5 people on the banking thread. Dare reply to anyone wanting advice and say anything positive about Banco Santander and you will be shot down.

Take your negativity somewhere else. You and your 3 or 4 pals that dominate every possible thread about Carphone or mobiles.co.uk.

You sum up all the bad things about this website.

*still shakes head at laptop screen* But feel a wee bit better that I am not as sad or as bitter as you.

I am only on here to help people the odd time I do comment - you one the other hand?

    Yadda yadda yadda.............................................................

You're quite right; the OP asked for experiences about this outfit and me and my "pals" have spent far more time than you trying to help the many who fell foul of what you advise AFTER the event. I'm sure the OP can judge on balance for themselves - without this thread if they do enough research on the dealer. Or perhaps we SHOULD keep stum and let more people stumble into problems because they take your advice and are complacent, thinking everything will be hunky-dory if they merely follow the dealer's word as you advise. No doubt you will be straight on here if and when one of your handful of claims goes wrong.
