Had a nice day today. We went foraging but haven't made anything yet, not sure we've got the right combo of ingredients to make something with.

We might not be able to go for the picnic tomorrow for two reasons; 1) DD is not very well. She might be over tired and we'll find out in the morning. 2) We've lost the car key - this is a regular occurrence and I'm sure it'll turn up but it is annoying none the less.

I've been looking on eBay for a wardrobe for DD's bedroom. Ideally she needs one for September when she starts school to hang her uniform up in so it doesn't get creased. Not found one cheap enough, close enough or nice enough yet, but I'll keep looking.

Chatted to ATS about 'the good life' daydream last night and I feel much better about everything today as a result. We worked out that it would be possible to do it in about two years and agreed in principle to remove obstacles so as to be able to make it happen when the time is right.

I love the idea of foraging. Many moons ago I used to make wine. The dining room was full of bubbling demi-johns  The most I forage for these days are blackberries and of course bananas :rotfl:another twelve today!

I am so jealous of the horse course, I'd so love to do something with horses. The Captain does a little bit of riding for the disabled, not so much these days as he is getting old.

What a shame DD is unwell, just as the weather turns too. Hopefully she'll be better for the picnic tomorrow.

What a hectic - and spendy - few days.

The french doors are being installed on Tuesday, but there is work to be done first. So we have hired a plumber and a builder, cost = £500. The plumber was here today and now we have no sink / water downstairs. Not great, but only for a few days.

Then we bought reclaimed flagstones on ebay, and sand and cement to lay them with, cost = £475. We started laying them yesterday and they look amazing. I'm really chuffed with them. Just need to finish laying them now!

We lost the car keys last weekend and very luckily they are covered by an insurance policy that ATS has, but we have had to pay out £518. We'll get £500 back but it'll take a while.

We did £40 of shopping in Tesco today too. I'm exhausted now and have a sore throat to boot.

But there are two bits of good news! Firstly ATS has got a job! Its 3 days a week for approx 11 weeks, maybe less and the pay is quite good. The other job that he had for 17 days has been put on hold though. He had done three days (which he's getting paid for) but there is a slight problem and he might not get the other days. He'll get some, but they might not be until October.
Secondly, I have an interview for the amazing and well paid job! I am very excited indeed. It son Tuesday, so I'll post after I come out but woooohhheeeee!

    That is all.

  • Fantastic news regarding ATS and the job, well done to you too getting an interview, i will have my fingers crossed for you.

Wow it sounds as though your really busy with all the work going on, don't over do it though, hope the sore throat gets better soon.

    Hi pwps,

Thanks for the kind wishes - and congrats on the new house too!

  • Urgh, I'm still unwell. Not mega unwell, but sore throat and tired. I don't want to risk over-doing it today as I have my interview in London tomorrow and I need to be on half decent form.

Our wedding anniversary is in two weeks time and my parents have kindly paid for us to go away for two days. They are also having the kids too. I booked the flights and the hotels via topcashback and got £25 cash back. That takes unclaimed cashback up to £80, but no idea when it'll become withdrawable.

The house is in an unbelievable state, so much thick dust everywhere from the builders. ATS has been doing a good job of clearing it but there's still so much to do. On top of that ATS is having to do the washing up in the bath, much to DD's amusement.

Good luck for your interview tomorrow. Know you will do well.

House sounds like it is coming along, the day you don't have to see dust everywhere, you will be so thankful! :)

you and ATS are doing a great job you know, it may not feel like it at the moment, but when it is all completed, you can say "we did that!"

Quick update. Interview went 'ok', but I don't think they'll offer it to me, which would be sad because they were really great. Trying not to be down about it. Just frustrated with myself, especially as work lurches from bad to worse every day.

The French doors are in, haven't seen them yet and ATS refuses to send me a photo.

Throat is totally better today. Small mercies, eh?

  • Train took an age to get home last night and I finally got in at 11.30pm.

The more I reflect on the interview the worse I think I did. The horrible thing is the more I think about it the more I think I was just giving off a aura of inexperience, because deep down I think I'm not good enough for the role. I shouldn't, I know I shouldn't, and it makes me so mad to think that my sub-conscious is self-sabotaging in this way. How do I stop it? That's my seventh interview and I really feel they gotten progressively worse over time. At this rate, no one will employ me because I'll be too lacking in confidence from all the knock backs. I need to think about this some more and come up with a plan.

In other news. The kitchen windows look really good. The room is so much more light and airy, its lovely. Need to do some cleaning in there and the plumber needs to come on refit the sink, hopefully tonight.
