    NO NO NO

keep the bridle paths for the horses where they belong NOT on public roads

why can't they keep to fields where they belong , if I decided to drive across the fields where horses are kept ,there would be he.. to play

if they were meant to go on roads they'd have indicators and brake lights :D

plus if your dog cr... on the road you must clean it up ,if a horse does it you lot just leave the smelly stuff there

Or pavements. We recently had a cycle path built, linking our village to the next. It is a combined pedestrian pathway and a cycle track. It was something that was desperately needed and is used every day by children going to school etc. However, since it was built, the local riders have decided it is a bridleway, as well. They ride up and down, the horses drop their poo all over it, making it impassable in many places and when they are asked to leave the pavement, pedestrians and cyclists are met with intimidation and threats. Two hundred and fifty thousand pounds worth of work, now being destroyed by horses shoes and acidic urine and faeces.

Last term, Flyboy10's class went on a trip to the local secondary school in the next village. As it was such a nice day, they decided to walk the one and a half miles to the other school. The first time they encountered a barrier of horse manure, three teachers had to leave the pavement and stop traffic on a national speed limit road, so the children could walk on the road to avoid the mess (it was too wide and deep for them to safely jump over it). The next wall of poo was at a place where it was just too dangerous to leave the pavement (the road was down a steep bank at this point). So alas, they had to turn back and forego the trip.

On the way back, they met three horses with riders (one man and two women). The riders refused to allow the children to pass, even to the point of calling the teachers irresponsible, for taking them out of school and walking them to their destination. There was a stand-off (the riders were becoming more and more threatening and intimidating, refusing to control their mounts etc.), until a passing police car stopped and after much argument, ordered the riders to take their horses onto the road.

The issue still continues today, with the riders becoming more and more boorish and churlish about the problems they cause. I witnessed one rider forcing a disabled woman in wheelchair on to the road, because she refused to allow her to pass.

    Nonsense.

Drivers shouldn't have to expect anything more than the normal day-to-day hazards they would normally experience. If a tractor, horse or even a spaceship happens to block the road, it would be the operator/rider/astronaut's responsibility to make sure that they behave in a responsible manner.

What do you mean by nonsense? Drivers should drive (especially on smaller roads) expecting to meet obstructions.

If I am pulling out of a field and you fly round the corner and hit me, you will be at fault.

No, you will be at fault for either not looking properly and causing the collision or for looking properly but pulling out anyway and still causing a collision.
By your logic cars pulling out of side roads and hitting those on the main carriageway would also be the innocent party.

How can you look round a corner?

If I am already on the road and you hit me you are in the wrong. Just as if I was parked on the road and you came round a corner too fast.

If I run into the back of you once you are already on the road then it might be my fault, if I hit you as you are pulling out then its your fault. If its so dangrous to pull out of this field then why doesn't have one of those mirrors that let you see aorund corners?
Also, if this corner is as blind as you are making out then it would likely have solid white lines so if you are parked on it then again its your fault.

Sometimes the road will be blocked when moving livestock there are 101 reasons to be on the road with a variety of animals, livestock and people. Drivers need to drive with this in mind on country roads to many drive as if they have the god given right to travel at the national speed limit regardless of the type of road or the condtions.

As it would be "my" road and I would have the right of way, the fault would be yours.

As I said earlier, I am constantly amazed at the lack of road knowledge on this forum.

If you are driving on the road, making reasonable progress, then yes it would be the driver who hits you in the rear, but if you were parked on the bend of the road, it would be your fault.

I agree with you on this, its not something I encounter very often but looking where you live, I'd imagine you do.

If you are blocking the road, whether with livestock, or apple trees, again that would be your fault.
