Getting Started Tomorrow and Scared...

I was induced with all three of my children.
The first time it took 3 lots of gel and I had labour like pains after the 2nd lot but I wasn't in labour so they gave me a third lot of gel which did start it off.
The second time it took 2 lots of gel and the third time I went into labour after 1 lot of gel.
With regards to the weight, my first two were over 9lb. Doctors said the 3rd would be bigger, but actually he was a tiny 7lb8oz lol!
Hope it all goes well

Has anyone any experience of this, and does it have a high success rate.
Really scared as baby was weighing at 9 pound on Friday...
My sil went overdue with her baby. She had to be induced too. She went in and the midwife inserted a small tablet and she was advised to stay in bed for an hour whilst it took effect. If it didn't work then she would be given another a few hours later. Once she had been relaxing for over an hour she was encouraged to get up and walk about as much as possible. My brother and herself spent alot of time pacing round and going up and down stairs.
In time contractions began to kick in and she got quite heavy back ache. She wasn't dilated enough to go down to the labour ward and my brother was advised to go home and he would be called once things progressed. My sil said that she decided to get some rest while she could. Over the next few hours her contractions got stronger and more regular. Once her waters broke they became much more intense and she was taken down to the labour ward.
My nephew was born 3 hours later. I still remember getting that amazing call from my brother to say he had become a daddy. Hope it goes well for you. Do let us know.0 -
I was induced when 14 days overdue!
Prior to that, I'd had THREE stretch and sweeps, but they didn't do anything. (nor did the long walks, fresh pineapple, bouncing on gym ball, sex, and hot curries!).
Are you me?! :rotfl:patchwork_cat wrote: »I was always told it isn't the weight that matters it is the size of the head!
When told my DD's head was 35cm at birth my MW told me I must have a pelvis like a bucket :rotfl: No cone head with her, came out too fast
the worst thing I found about being induced was being on the labour ward. No real privacy, hot, uncomfortable. But I was 13 days overdue, fed up of feeling like a whale so it was a means to an end.
Just try and relax, take some stuff to keep you occupied etc and you'll be fine.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I was induced at 16 days over due with my dd - she was plAnned homebirth and I hadn't stepped foot in hospital my entire pregnancy so was terrifed, disappointed etc etc.
I had the gel at 3 and was monitored for half an hour, went for a walk to buy a magazine about 4 whilst oh moved the car - by the time he was back I was having contractions and my daughter was born 6 pm....I suspect our efforts at 'home induction'
that morning helped move thigns along quickly
Ignore what weight they tell you the baby is - its at best an 'educated' guess, at worst a stab in the dark!#
I was disharged directly form delivery suite at 9.30, most of which was spent waiting for paperwork as didn't want to be apart from oh/ stay over night
Good luck!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Good Luck today, I was induced with my 3rd but with the tablet and had my dd less than 4 hours after the tablet. I had the option to go home that night but thought i would stay in overnight just to spend some time alone with dd before the chaos of visitors lolI don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute :whistle:0

When you ladies say you've had "the tablet" do you know what the tablet was? I know there are prostaglandin gels and pessaries, but the only 'tablet' I've heard of used in inductions is Cytotec or misoprostol. (Google if you dare
)
*Hoping there's something else I've not heard of...*They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
