No, I didn't know that because it isn't the case. Cables will not 'clean up' mains noise.clivejohnson wrote: »You misunderstand me.
What I was actually saying is that all mains systems in this country are inherintly[sic] dirty. decent cables, as you know, will go some way to "cleaning" your mains system, and improving the sound in the process. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Theyve been measured to NOT completely remove all RFI in a fairly decent hifi amp
Thats why I use a balanced mains transformer
In what way does a balanced mains tranformer remove RFI that the good quality toriodals used in most decent amplifiers don't (not to mention the massive smoothing capacitors they generally feed into)? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

I'm an electronics engineer and an audio enthusiast. If you havnt yet researched this subject then I suggest you pop off and found out for yourself.
I'm not trying to 'get a rise'. I am trying to get some justification for an as yet unsupported claim for which I see no technical basis. People come to these forums for technical advice. We should be willing to justify that advice - you know as well as I do that some of the advice offered in this forum is not as reliable as it should be. People need to be able to sort the wheat from the chaff and the technology from the fairy dust.I really cant be ar*d explaining to somone who is clearly only asking the question to try and get a rise.

I'll chuck in the Squeezebox range as an alternative to Sonos. Been happilly using them for almost a decade and currently have three music devices wired/wirelessly networked in our house. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
