Best home sound system?

Hi all.
I am finally buying a house and was wondering if there were any good around the home sound systems you can suggest?

One where i can preferably control the sound in all the rooms from one place.

Thanks

you expect an answer from that question?

you need to tell folks a budget, what you have already, what you want etc
    some folks think a £10k system is alright,others a £100 system

Not to mention that controlling all rooms (how many??) could be quite a major thing

Theres so many different ways of going about this its impossible to give any advice until a budget is given along with whats really wanted

Another place to ask will be http://www.avforums.com/ as well.

+1 for asking on there, some very clever folks on the boards there that would be able to help you more. But before you do you need to outline your needs more as custardy said. No one will be able to help that well if they don't know what gear you want or have already, budget, number and size of rooms and generally what you want from the system.

Btw just to add my 2 cents - i was looking for a decent sound system for a while - i could have spent thousands but i opted for the Denon DM38Dab with the Q Acoustic 2020 speakers and oh my im glad i got these 2 together - sound clarity is excellent, the base in the speakers is excellent too,

Give them a thought - don't get some robot looking trampy hifi you see in places, there duff.

Is it new as in not been finished yet or new as in moving in ready?

If its the latter probably the only system thats going to work is something like Sonos which uses its own wireless or you existing wired network to play music from some networked computer/storage or stream from the internet via Napster for a monthly fee. You can control the system from a Sonos control panel or an iPhone or Android handset + App. Cost a few hundred pounds per zone

Other than this there are many other systems... Nuvo, Opus, Netstreams etc but most would only be an option in a new build or a complete renovation as they usually would have wall mounted controllers and in-ceiling or in-wall speakers wired to a central location. These systems as well as being more expensive for the equipment you also have to factor in extra wiring and installation costs.

Guys, thanks for all this information, really appreciated.

The house isn't finished yet so I'm looking to integrate the system into the ceiling.

I know I didnt provide much info before but I am a newbie here :)

    Looking to spend around £400-500.

    Thanks

Why on earth would you want to control the volume in (say) the bedroom from 'one place' (say the lounge)?

Someone's listening in the bedroom, and all of a sudden you turn it up or down....? Are you SURE?

Do you want to have the same music in all the rooms, or have different rooms playing different music.

At the core of it, WHY do you want a multi-room system as opposed to separate systems?

If you're looking to put speakers in ceilings, and have different music in different rooms, are you sure that those in the adjacent rooms will want to share the music in the other room(s)?

you're either looking to have the full house wired where you can control the sound from a central unit or you're looking at spending up to £500... it's one of the other ;)
