Who said anything about ignoring the phone?ImDoingItForMe wrote: »I cant ignore the phone it may be urgent. I thought i expained this in my first message on here.
If you don't have the ability to ignore them, that's only something you can solve by changing your mindset towards them.ImDoingItForMe wrote: »And no it doesnt work by ignoring them ive had over 150+ txts.
As others have said, many handsets these days have the ability to create a whitelist (some call it a blacklist).ImDoingItForMe wrote: »Just wish they had a flipping block button like facebook has.
As you have already said the phone is important and can't be ignored, surely it would be considerably less hassle for you to buy a new handset for £30 rather than change your number?Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

Thankyou, im glad someone understands. It even got to the point where he knew where i was going and was saying he was going to turn up. I dont want to go into what the txt messages said but it has worried me. I will for my own sanity change my number tomorrow. Really that was the last straw but even though he may not txt for a while i really do believe he wont give up. I cant afford a new hand set and why should i? I did change my attitude towards the txts. Ive also stored them on my computer just incase the phone breaks. U never know. My mobile isnt a cheap one and like a lot of them you cant block txt messages only phone calls.Responding to any sort of nuisance call or text is a bad idea. These people get off on the reaction and it only encourages them.0 -
You can block text messages if you have the Samsung j700
go into settings, message settings, text messages, block number
If you have a different model send back a text saying "your messages have been blocked by 07*********. Message 3423".
Hopefully he will read it think its real and man up.It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Got a tocco. I would have done that if i couod keep up with the txts. But ive had some whilst at work. And hes not that daft, just wish he was. If i sent that then he would know the message has been received by me sending another txt back. Someone suggested just forwarding the messages back to him, but there was too many. So i just ignored as much as i could. This must go on quite a lot to other people, anyway ile just change my number then thats the end of it all.0

I think its best if you take it to another level and make a trip to the cop shop.
Why should you change your number and disrupt your business because of his boyish ways? nip it in the bud and show the police all the messages they will have a word with him, I don't like the fact that he knows your movements. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
He did know where i was meant to be going but i didnt go in the end, hence the late night txt. I think for my piece of mind ile change the number then i havnt got to worry or keep looking over my shoulder so to speak. Most people read a txt or part of a txt before deleting it. If i get a new number then at least thats the end of it all because frankly i was getting worried. He could start making up alsorts of things and my minds starting to work overtime.0

I hope you get it sorted but I doubt changing your number via sim card will have an effect. He sounds like he isn't going to take no for an answer. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

Ive done everything else, i cant do anymore and no he wouldnt take no for an answer but i cant do this anymore its been a month and its getting me down. I cant seem to get through to him. Im keeping away from a place where we used to go as well. Seems thats all i can do because is doing me head in. I cant shut it all out of my head.0

Here's a real radical/thinking outside the box solution:
get a new sim card (one of those free PAYG ones) then send him a text saying: "hey all new number *Name*". (so that only he has that number)
then from that moment on never reply to him with your old number, never ever.
he will then hopefully text the new number over the next few days, at least once (he may edge his bets and text the 'old' number a few times)
when he texts the 'new' number, send him a text saying "you should not have this number, don't text me again"
this confirms to him that you only accidentally told him your new number and that it is actually your real new number.
then after you have done that put the PAYG sim in some old phone leave it on silent with vibrate off, he'll keep texting that number and hopefully leave your original number clear.
Pretty cleaver eh?0 -
Please, as someone else suggested think about taking this to the police, its harrassment and its obviously really upsetting you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
