Please could somebody let me know if you can get a number barred or blocked from calling you on an 02 network. An ex has been constantly txting me for a month with over 150 txts. I really dont want to change my number as its linked to a lot of personal things, plus my mum is elderly and she just gets mixed up with new numbers. I had to change a number before and it was a nightmare because she lost it and was confused and upset as she couldnt get hold of me. The number i have got is an easy number for her to remember. she doesnt remember to use her old fashioned phone book so i tape my number to her phone table. Shes just got used to this number and i know if i change it what will happen. Can anyone please advise me what i can do. The reason for such a late message on here is because once again this ex has messaged me late at night. I leave my phone on silent but it lights up the room when it gets a message or call. I leave it on because of my mum who lives alone and my son whos away on exercise a lot. The txt woke me up and because i thought it maybe my son or mum who needed me in an emergency or i though my son may have had an accident so i shot up out of bed. And now im wide awake. Another night being woken up by an ex.

            Network cannot do this.
However, many handsets can be set to ignore some incoming calls/texts. Check your manual first.
Also, you may try complaining to police.0 -
What phone do you have? If it's a Blackberry you can get an App that allows you to block unwanted numbers and texts. Or as above check your manual.0

Pretty much, customer services aren't just being difficult, they don't have any way of blocking numbers. Some handsets have the facility to block calls built in, others can do it via apps (Blackberries and Android), but if you've got an iPhone you're out of luck unless you jailbreak it.0 -
As others have mentioned many handsets have a feature to not so much block calls but to only accept from a chosen list. And very easy to setup, the calls get sent to voicemail or just dropped, not sure what happens with the texts.0

Thanks for the replies. Its an old samsung. I cant block any calls, only reject them. Its not the calls as they dont happen, it the after midnight txts. Ive look at the manual and theres no way of blocking them. I did phone 02 customer services and they said they cant block the number. Hopefully my ex will give up in the end. Its all too much, i have to open the txts to get rid of them as i cant delete them before they are read. I have kept them all stored on the phone just incase anything weird starts happening.0

Here's a somewhat radical solution, just ignore & delete them (it works every time).ImDoingItForMe wrote: »Its not the calls as they dont happen, it the after midnight txts.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
Heres a somewhat radical answer, I have to open the txt to delete it. The phone has to be on because of my mum and whether its on silent at night (which it is) the phone still lights up. I cant ignore the phone it may be urgent. I thought i expained this in my first message on here. And no it doesnt work by ignoring them ive had over 150+ txts. Just wish they had a flipping block button like facebook has. Last night was the last straw because it aint funny being woken up for no reason i didnt get back to sleep until gone 3. So it looks like the only answer is a new number.0

Text him back every time saying "Record kept of harassment".
(I assume you HAVE told him to stop?)

Im seriously hoping after last night he has now given up. Its been a month today since we split (his choice). I dont normally reply but i just let rip last night. Constant in ya face txting, emailing, facebooking isnt normal. I wonder if its classed as stalking. Told him to stop weeks ago but its like hitting my head against a brick wall, so most txts ive ignored as everyone suggested. But that hasnt worked. I had to get nasty in the end which really isnt me and wasnt what i wanted to do,0

Responding to any sort of nuisance call or text is a bad idea. These people get off on the reaction and it only encourages them.0
