Well, you'd get better replies in a shorter time if you supplied the correct info at the start.

If you don't/didn't want to reveal you details then you could have written the plate as XX51XXX.

One other thing to add - if you look on your Reg Certificate and it has "reg mark not transferable" then you can't transfer the plate thats on the Volvo.

Your question was answered in post #2. You cannot put a newer registration mark on an older car. Just because you own the car, it doesn't automatically mean you do own the registration mark; you have to buy it from DVLA.
