For example the bloke that got his "little friend" stuck in a wide neck Lucozade Bottle, then didn't want to go to A/E for 6 hours by which point his "little friend" was completely black and it had to be removed. Is definately a candidate for the Darwin Award as far as I can see it.

I assume that by your comment the reasons for nomination may well differ slightly throughout the country.

But where I live and work, they are indeed considered as I have said, your area is obviously different.

As such, the OP is definately to be considered a candidate.

Wow, great, but the Darwin Award has been around for longer than the Internet.

They were the subject of conversation back in the early '80s when I was at Uni.

Just because somebody puts up a webpage about something, doesn't mean that

A: They thought of it.

B: They are even correct.


It is a bit like the song in the charts by Wretch 32. A big hit, but I personally prefer the original Stone Roses version.

These days there is lots of copying of things that were around in the '80s, not just music.


Sometimes the lack of ability of the younger generations to realise that the world existed before 2000 surprises me.

Yeah, we all used to live in caves....................

I have been nominating people for Darwin Awards for over 25 years, it isn't a new thing.

And after a decade in the Ambulance service i have seen many candidates for a Darwin Award.
