Firstly - what a pants weekend Hadley. What an awful, awful thing to happen.
Em - Hen weekend sounded fab and calories don't count on hen nights/wedding days/honeymoons or any cake brought from a charity stand!!
Well done on all your losses to all. I did my weekly weigh in on Saturday morning after a week following Paul McKenna. I lost 5lb!!!!!!! I am really pleased with that. My goal is another 2lb plus this week and my reward will be to try my dress on again. I had been on SW but have found for the last 3 months now my heart wasn't in and i was getting bored and i obviously just needed a new routine and shake up and its worked.0 -
Ellie B - congrats on your amazing loss and fitting into the Size 12 dress! you must feel fab right now!
Hadley - that's terrible, your poor mum.
Em - your hen weekend sounds brilliant! And I echo what everyone has said, NO diet worries on hen weekends
Well as for me, I weighed this morning and am very glad not to have gained weight despite having a Chinese on Thursday, a pudding on Friday, pizza on Saturday and a huge Sunday roast yesterday. Just need to step it up a bit this week to try and lose!
I feel a bit frustrated and confused though after going to see my Consultant today. I don't know if I mentioned on here this weird lump I've got at the base of my neck, which caused my GP to test me for Cushing's Disease. Anyway, I mentioned it to my consultant just in case it's related to my head pain, and he said it's probably a side effect of my medication - they cause extreme weight gain and have been known to cause strange localised weight gain tooI knew weight gain was a side effect of the medication but I have been determined not to let that be an excuse for me, but just hearing him say it made it seem sort of real and insurmountable. Also, he said "There's only one way to deal with it....don't eat". I replied "Yeah I know, don't eat and do lots of exercise" and he said "No, don't exercise, it just makes you hungry - just eat as little as possible." Now.....I'm not sure whether to just ignore that! It goes against everything I've ever read/thought about weight loss and controlling weight. I know he is a fancy Harley Street doctor but I suppose he is a neurologist, not a dietician...I don't know...it seems like a strange thing for a doctor to say?
Anyway I feel a bit miserable, as I've been signed off for another two weeks so by the time I go back I will have had nearly a whole term off. It's ridiculous. I try to keep positive and do as much as I can but I am bl**dy SICK of being in pain all the time. I just want to get back to work and back to normal life!!
Sorry for putting a downer on things...Just not sure what to think about what the doctor said. I have eaten some strawberries, a banana and a yogurt so far today, and was going to have a small but healthy lunch and then go on the treadmill this afternoon...but I don't know now whether to just skip the lunch and skip the treadmill!! Confused!

a friend of mine was on medication that caused weight gain a couple of years ago.
she was advised to not exercise and be very careful what she ate, and eat little and often. When she became hungry she just craved food and the medication blocked the full signals so she would just eat and eat and still feel hungry. Little and often worked as she did not become hungry so the signals to eat never started. It does seem wierd and she was very sceptical at first, maybe the medication you are on is similar. When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

Hi all,
Not quite perfect to be trying to lose weight 2 weeks before my wedding but i've been for my final dress fitting and the zip refused to zip up!! Having measured myself daily for the last 8 weeks know I've not put on inches or actual weight so i'm assuming i'm carrying water from TTOM...
I'm watching my weight and portions and have been for a number of months now so can't figure ouw why the dress that fitted 8 weeks ago, now doesnt...
Help?0 -
Sorry to hear this Daisi. Maybe try having a smaller lunch, just fruit or salad or something, then just walking it something on the treadmill. It does seem a bit silly doing all the excersise if you are just goig to eat more because of it.
Saying that tho, you do still need the nutrients, potassium, vitamins etc to stay healthy. So I would recommend eating some fruit.:T0 -

Help?
It probably is just water retention, but I would recommend trying a body wrap (can help loose a couple of cm). Other than that I have heard that giving up carbs can be a good short term fix. It will come back on once you start eating carbs again tho... So would noresurgent (edit- not suggest) it for more than the 2 weeks.:T0 -
Well have a good evening everyone. I haven't been too good today, but there is no point in wallowing. Will be going to the gym tomorrow, got tonight off as im feeling a bit under the weather.
hopefully will get my hair trial booked tonight though.

Hope everyone has had a good afternoon. Well done on the weight losses
I went out for lunch with work and ate more than intended. Had bread with dips and salad to start (ate more than should have as they took ages to come get our order!) then I had falafel with rice, hummus and salad. Ate much more than I should have but it was really yummy.
Am going to have soup for dinner to balance it out a bit.
I also threw away the left over scones that we had taken on sat (not that there were many left now) and the clotted cream we had got to go with them as OH isn't keen and I really shouldn't eat any more lol. Felt bad throwing it away but it really was the best thing to do. Pretty impressed with the will power there!
Hope everyone has a good evening0 -
Hadley thats terrible, hope your mum is ok.
Em that sounds like my kind of hen, mine is in 2 weeks time, a diet free zone!
Wow ellie, thats amazing. hopefully that'll be me one day! Doubt before the wedding but if i can lose another 2st before july i'll settle for that.
Hope you feel better Jo, are you enjoying the gym?
Looktothefuture im sure a low caffiene, low salt, lots of water and lots of fruit + veg ( low cal, low fat foods) will do the trick. If all else fails the seam could maybe be let out a little?0 -
Yeah, I am enjoying it when I go!
The hair person still hasn't contacted me. she said she would call this evening. Does she not realise this is the most important thing in the world!! :rotfl::rotfl::T0
