I have always been a meat eater... OH was a veggie, but since uni he has eaten meat. I won't cook separate food for him, so if I have meat, he does to!

Haha we are the otherway round Jo. I won't cook separate for OH (and wouldn't touch 'real' meat, i.e. not in a pie or coated type thing, if you get what I mean) so he doesn't have meat. What reason was your OH veggie Jo? I don't think I could suddenly go from not eating meat to eating. Plus as I have always been veggie I think my body would need time to adjust.

hmm i have always eaten meat. My dad always made sure we did, and one day when i was 10, i said i would be vegeterian to try it out and i got told off. :( i have never ever been veggie. love my meat but not like hubby where he has to have some everyday!!! thats why i miss my mums cooking as she did more veggie stuff and meat was a treat type thing. ;)

I think it depends a lot on your parents. I was raised as a veggie and my dad was quite active hunt sabotour (sp?) when he was younger and they are big on animal rights so I don't eat it as I don't agree with eating meat. I don't stop OH eating it I just won't cook it. Also I won't raise my children as veggies; I will offer them the choice. I think some people are dead set against veggie stuff before they even try and it and therefore they have already decided they won't like a veggie meal before even tasting it. I have relatives who 'have' to have meat with every meal too. But I can't understand it. It also gets me mad when they say things like 'if you don't eat meat you won't develop properly' what rubbish!!!

His whole family was, he had never tried meat until he was 18. It was an ease thing with him. When he lived with his parents it was easier to be vegi, when I came along it was easier to eat meat!
We don't eat very much though, only about twice a week as dinner, tho I do have ham sw for lunch!
OH heard that he would have problems adjusting, but he started with chicken one day, again a week later etc, an never had a problem.

Linda McCartney sausage shaped things = yum!

I say sausage shape, as I feel that's why people turn their noses up. Stop trying to be meat substitutes, and people will try it, and like it! :rotfl:

They are very yummy, but not comparable to a sausage! It's like comparing cheese and egg!!!

OH finds that too. But he will happily eat veggie meals knowing it is veggie but doesn't think it tastes like meat. I have nothing to compare it with so can't comment! lol. I know my mum still misses bacon though and she gave up meat when she married my dad just over 30 years ago.
