What kind of dress are you getting? If it is from a bridal shop I think they need about 6-9 months to order or something like that. If it is off the peg thing then obviously no long wait time.
I'm planning to go to an alteration person about 2 months - 6 weeks before as I don't like to be rushed but if I go too early then my weight loss would have to stop earlier.. Hmm...0 -

I haven't even tried any on yet!
I know I unfortunately won't be able to order from a bridal shop, I'm thinking I'll go to a bridal shop to try some on, maybe next week and once I know what style I like I'll just buy one online and take it to a private dress fitter for any alterations.
I realise there are some serious flaws in this plan. :rotfl: Not least the fact that it likely won't arrive before January 22nd, so I won't be able to look at it until April 6th when I'm back; but I don't think I have any alternative, unless I'm lucky enough to stumble on something from off the peg in one of the shops.
If I fall in love with a particular dress maybe I'll find a preowned one on Ebay, I can but dream.Debt at 1/5/09 £21,996 _pale_

the ladies in the dress shops always go overboard about timings for the fittings. i got my dress 5 months before the wedding and i managed to even have 3 fittings as i had forgotten my hoop on teh second fitting. oops.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Giddy you could always ask if you could buy the shop sample if it is able to be altered to fit; then you could still have a 'proper' dress. I ordered mine at the beginning of Aug and it is meant to arrive this month so if you ordered soon it may well be possible.
You gone to the shops yet Rups?? heehee0 -
You could ask the bridal shops if they have any sale dresses or ex samples for sale. Most of the shops I went to had some sale dresses.
Rups, you can wait, but we want to know now!! hehe At least you'd know either way.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

On my first day of looking for a dress (back in April ), a bridal sale shop had opened up that day and I went in there after having been in two bridal shops. I tried on two dresses and the second one made me :j so I bought it and took it home the same day. I was their first sale lol. So it can happen.red wine. yum! *drool*..

Rups - do you have sore boobs? Feel vERY tired? Always signs, even if you don;t feel sick. I can confirm the cheap ones are just as reliable as the expensive ones.
My dress was an ex-sample so I didn;t have to wait for it to arrive. I get married in March and I have made an appointment to have first fitting in January and then there will be a second in February. I think the first one will be more to do with the length and the second will be toalter it if it needs pulling in at all.
Weigh in - I think I have lost 2lb since last Friday, my target for Monday is 2lb (will be half a stone in 3weeks if I do) so need to keep it over the weekend....
