car insurance up for renewal but just had an accident

Hi, just to get things straight, have you tried to see what quotes are like on meerkat etc when entering 5 years protected and telling them about the accident?
Personally , if you are going to claim , I would stay with your current insurer for another year.
As the accident involves friends and if they are genuinely ok with it, then if you are not going to claim at all just get it repaired locally and switch insurers without reporting it. I agree with Mcneff , that a small bodyshop would be a fraction of your guestimate.
If you do decide to claim you have to inform the new insurer of the claim!0
