You need to redo the meerkat with the accident included and see what difference it makes and take it from there.0

Is your no claims protected?0

just have and despite leaving the 5 years ncd in - the cost of insurance went up by 140 quid. However it is still 130 quid less than my present insurers renewal quote (without them knowing about the potential claim)Smile though your bank is breaking:)0

ok so it is a no brainer really. Claim then change my insurance company right? But chicken and egg as how do i get an accurate quote until if i find out how much damage was done. aghhhh!Smile though your bank is breaking:)0

I wouldnt claim, its not worth itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Maybe my maths is out but the OP just said the car damage is approx £1k and his premium will increase by £140 with another insurer. Even over 5 years of having to the declare the claim assuming it was £140 dearer every year (which is unlikely) that is still only £700 and therefore £300 cheaper than paying to get the damage repaired.0 -
Yes that is the conclusion I came to as well. So will make a claim today just not sure at what point to change my insurance. It is due for renewal this week but need to know the exact amount of damage before I can get a quote from another insurance for renewal. Tried putting it in meerkat with unknown damage but that meant the price shot up. I can guesstimate at 1k but then that would be fraudulent. Dad suggested just renewing and then using the 14 days to change insurance which may give me time to find out how much the repair costs. What do you guys think?Smile though your bank is breaking:)0

oh and yes gordikin i have 5 years no claims protectedSmile though your bank is breaking:)0

Can you pop it round to a small independant garage, your guesstimate of £1k might be just £300 at one of those,
then you can just get on with it as long as you get a written estimate from the garage. That way you dont have
to go throught your insurance but you really have to inform them of the incident anyway but thats up to you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
will you have an excess to pay on your policy if you claim?0
