Is lidle that much cheaper? I start a new job monday but have been on JSA for 6 months so have been counting the pennies for a while. I used to go to tesct and not beieng fastidious was living off the BOGOF offers and then just topping up and grocery shopping at lildl.0

I've noticed Tesco prices creeping up too, and you're right in saying a lot of BOGOF etc., offers have disappeared in Asda.
I've noticed seasonal offers are strange too. Eg most stores have Elizabeth Shaw Liqueur Truffles on offer. Some are BOGOF, some are half price and so on. Nobody is selling them at full price. Are they just overpriced at full price, so they are always on offer and people think they are getting a bargain? Here I go again on my own....0 -
I did notice that the sausages that were 2 for £3 or £3.20 are now 3 for £50

niall24 wrote:Hi has any one noticed if the weekly shop at asda gone more expensive over the past month doing the normal weekly shop!
It seems to of jumped from around £80 to £100
it cant just be me can it???
i did some shopping at my local asda in wembley park today and all i brought was a packet of cornflakes, a pack of chocalate digestives.
one pack of ready made sage and onion stuffing, a bundle of oranges and 2 small yogurts.
guess how much it cost me?
almost 9 pounds!
its unbelivable isnt it!
i mean i would expect to pay that sort of price for a leg of lamb, potatoes etc etc
but 9 quid for a few items is just too expensive.
and now its almost christmas virtually everything has gone up!
its as if they assume people have got bundles of money to spend
which in alot of peoples cases just isnt so!
and as soon as christmas is over its back to the same old boring food.
i am so tired of asda..i only do my shopping there because its just up the road from where i live.
i mean all people want is good quality reasonably priced food.
why should the customers have to pay so much for certain foods?
its just not fair0 -

Cynical I may be, but I can't help thinking that there is some truth in this :rolleyes:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Value peaches have gone up 5p this week.
If they are doing that on basics, what are they doing on premium products
Methinks they are cashing in on Christmas:(
of course they are trying to cash in on the fact that its almost christmas,
people tend to buy more and spend more.
so out comes the " we know its christmas and you want to eat..but we make sure you pay premimum prices for our christmas food"
ie pork pie with a cranberry topping priced at almost 4 quid! (isnt that taking the mick!)
overpriced chipolatas, horrible tasteless chicken dippers, wide variety of expensive cheeses, overpriced peanuts, and so on and so forth....i always avoid all the "christmas food".
afterall i dont have a family to feed so i just buy enough to keep me going till asda opens again.
they do take the mick big time with their prices
i mean one day you pay i dont know 50p for a packet of pringles, next day its gone up to 78p.
and yet we dont get extra pringles for the 38p.
how do supermarkets justify that sort of pricing?0
