I wouldn't bother with a press. It's just one more thing to find space for and wash up. I either shape into sausage and slice up, just as lil-me as posted or roll out and cookie cutter them out.

If you don't have a cookie cutter which also doubles are jam tart/scone/mince pie cutter then take the top and bottom off a baked bean tin and you have one. LOL

I'm not the only one who was completely baffled before Pink posted then :rotfl: thought I was going crackers there

I suppose if I was making them to sell I might use a gadget, but they don't last long enough here to faff on :D
One day I might be more organised...........

  • I ended up gettin a Rikon Kuhn one (spelling?) and it is really good - I used it over Christmas and was able to mass produce cookies very quickly and easily. You can also use it for decorating cakes, etc but I haven't tried that.

I am pleased I got it.

I have one of the older (1980s) ones that I sent off to a magazine for. It has metal discs. When I first got it I used it for many years to make baskets of biscuits for Christmas gifts.

The recipe book that came with it was fine, and I used different discs for different recipes. One thing I remember that I haven't spotted anyone mentioning is that you need to use metal baking trays rather than 'non stick'. As you pump out each biscuit onto the tray, it has to stick so you can lift the gun and 'break' the stream of mixture. IYSWIM. Not sure if the new models work the same way.

I have recently moved after 30 yrs in the same house and this is one of the few things that I have brought with me. Ready for the grandchildren perhaps?? Well a girl can dream :D

    What an excellent idea!
  • Hi Thistle,

My mum & I used to have one of those machines when i was younger... I can tell you now from personal experience, THEY ARE AWESOME!!! They are sooo much fun & they are sooo easy to use & even easy to clean!!!

Ebay has one on there, but i personally wouldn't get that one cos it looks like it's a bit rusty... I'll keep searching as i want one too... I was given a plastic type one as a present, however it works well for cream, just not biscuit mixture.

Will keep you posted. Good luck with your search too...

Oh & in answer to your other question... TOTALLY worth the money!!!!

    Cheers
