I would like to do a lot of baking as gifts for relatives this Christmas - I was thinking a cookie press gun thingy might make them look a bit nicer and possibly help me go a bit quicker to get a batch of cookies done.
Has anyone ever used one - and if so what kind and what was your experience? I saw a Pampered Chef lady use one once and it looked great, but I don't want to waste money on something if it doesn't make things easier and won't get used.
Thanks for any help - I did do a search but couldn't find any answers!

I've got one(from betterware). Its alright for very soft dough cookies but useless for anything firmer. It makes those shaped biscuits like the butter cookies you get in xmas biscuit tins. Not much fun to clean as it has steel parts that cant go in the dishwasher. Mine is hardly ever used.0

I have the pampered chef one and it comes aparteasily to clean, i can be a bit fiddly on some of the designs, but the kids love it as they can work it too0

I must confess to having forgotten that I had one, although it isn't a Sawa.
 The quantities for mine are
Tea Pastry - (what the heck is that??? Plain version I suppose)
 250g butter or marg
 250g sugar
 2 eggs
 1 pinch salt
500g flour (doesn’t specify, but I would expect plain)
 ½ tsp vanilla essence
Cream fat and sugar, add eggs and flavouring. Sieve in flour and mix remaining ingredients until a soft dough is achieved.
Form biscuits on a chilled baking tray Bake at 200C (400F, gas mark 6) for approx 10 minutes.0

I've lost my Sawa recipe book but think this is similar
 2 Cups flour
 2 tablespoons cornflour
 1/4 teaspoon salt
 3 oz sifted icing sugar
 1/2 lb butter
Sift flour, cornflour, salt and icing sugar into a bowl. Add butter (room temperature) and rub in to mould mixture to soft dough. Then knead well.
 Force through biscuit maker.
Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in a very slow over 325F for 30-40 mins until pale brown.
 OR
Another excellent biscuit recipe (not tried with biscuit maker though)
 250g butter
 1 Tin Condensed milk
 1 tsp vanilla
 1/2 tsp salt
 3/4 Cup sugar
 3 Cups flour
 2 tsp baking powder.
Cream butter and sugar - add other ingredients - roll into balls - flatten -decorate if required - bake 180C for approx 15 mins.0

Sorry - I couldn't complete my earlier post properly as dinner was ready and the troops were muttering 'cos they were hungry :rotfl:
The other variations given for my biscuit maker are as follows. The method id the same (which is why it referred to "other ingredients").
 Chocolate Biscuits
 150g butter oe marg
 150g sugar
 2 eggs
 50g grated chocolate
 300g flour
 2 tbs rum
Rum flavouring to taste (not quite sure why you would need both!)
 Almond Biscuits
 200g butter or marge
 100g sugar
 2 eggs
 200g flour
 200g finely ground almonds
 Vanilla Biscuits
 175g butter or marge
 100g sugar
 ½ tsp vanilla essence
 2 eggs
 250g flour
 75g finely ground hazelnuts0

My Gran had one of these, I remember her making them for us as kids. Someone mentioned them a couple of days ago but I couldn't find the thread. So are they any good? I've read mixed reviews about them.July Win: Nokia 58000
