We were going to put £100 each to pay the loan off, but I don't think I will get the £100 off now theres no loan though :( so it looks like its just me :(

Yes DS2 is in the bedroom, we just want to make it better.

Looks like it is going to be loads of nsd's and scrimping and saving.

Why should it make a difference Claire whether there's a loan or not? It's going towards the same thing! Do you need to sit down with the sums cheri worked out and say 'this is how much interest we'll save if we don't have the loan' etc?

Glad to see you've got it in your signature already - well done! :T

The usual rules with Credit Unions is that you have to save for a few months before they will make a loan. Can you use their facility to save the money (both saving £100 pcm) so that the money is ringfenced for the boiler?

I'm sure it won't harm DS2 to wait a year - he can use the time planing how he would like to decorate it.:D Not in Black Sabbath purple I hope.

BTW - anyone heard from Souk??? My nose is bothering me:rotfl:

Good idea MG to stick it in with the credit union! That way it's away from other savings money. If you were both going to contribute to the loan, you should both be contributing to the fund - this is a joint venture, you're a TEAM. Even if you don't combine money (and I think that's a personal choice - our accounts aren't combined), if this one's a joint project, it should be treated as such.

(and MG's right - we are indeed queens of scrimping and saving!)
