Apparently her dad doesn't know yet, because he is on a flight back from America...

Whatever the reason for her death, 27 is far too young :(

How very, very sad. I took a while to "get" her music but one day I was driving home from work and a song came on the radio and I had to pull over to listen to it. I was spellbound. The voice was so haunting, the lyrics were the most heartfelt lyrics I had heard in a long time. When the DJ said it was Amy Winehouse I drove straight to Smiths and bought her album. What a talent to lose.

Most of you will know that I have a bit of a thing for Robert Downey Jnr. He too lost his way for a long, long time. He was lucky because he found somebody who helped him out of the fog.

Talented people are often deeply insecure and this leads them to making decisions that many of us on the outside can see are not the best. Nobody can help a person when they are in deep and not ready to hear. How many times has somebody given you a piece of advice that you have ignored but later that same piece of advice seems perfect?

People who make horrible remarks and nasty suggestions need to fall off the parapet sometimes and then see how hard it can be to make rational decisions in the face of adversity.

I really hope that her parents are surrounded by love right now.

That's awful. Surely they can get hold of him. And I hope they manage to keep the press away from him when he lands.

I can't believe about Amy Winehouse either: I know she had her problems, but as a fan of her music, I was hoping she would manage to eventually pull herself out of it. Her songwriting abilities were matched only be her voice, and I still can't believe that a 19 year old could write a song as accutely observant as 'F*ck Me Pumps': I was nowhere near that observant at that age. Even now, if I'm honest.

    What a dreadful, terrible waste.

My thoughts also go to the Norweigans and the Somalians. What troubled times we live in. :(

    Hi Matrix!

Tought I'd pop in for a snoop to see what you're all up to  Not been here for aaaages. My work situation went a little bit wrong; following my second baby (named Gherkin by MG) I wanted to go back part time but my request was refused so I took the scary decision to work out my notice and quit without anything to go to  Feels totally right though :D

I'm supposed to be looking for work but would much rather be a SAHM for a while - DS1 is 13 and hormone central, Gherkin is 10 months and gorgeous.

I'll try to pop in more often but I haven't forgotten how much you lot can gabber so I don't know if I'll manage to keep up! :rotfl:

Can anyone care to fill me in with the highlights of this latest thread?

I feel sad about Amy too. So young and talented and whatever the cause, a death is sad for those left behind.

Had a lovely time at my friends BBQ and gorgeous day here today.

In other news I have now lost another 4lbs and thats a total of 10lbs this month!!! SOOOO chuffed as Ive really stuck to it.

MG my MONTHLY grocery budget normally comes in at less than 1 weeks LL for your friend. I hope she shifts some SERIOUS weight! X

Lovely sunny day here so washing on the line (tissue in the washing - aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggh)

Getting the family to help with various bit in the garden.

Also starting to get my head around holiday prep. I hate packing and will do just about anything to avoid it so I'm trying to get family members to do some bits now to help out.
