    Ahhh Musicals. Good Mornin

Not as mad on modern ones as the good old days but I do have a listen from time to time.
This would describe where I am this morning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw-qlHuktJs&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=PL31AA95004B460A27
For me it represents everything about where I am now. Trying new things, experimenting, enjoying the experimentation and loving life.
Although this isnt a musical -it is a musical film of literally where I see myself in the future http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRqRfWHze38

Where do I want to be? Hmmmm how about this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tdtmlOV_Y0 for me this means that I want to be able to tackle the most difficult things with ease.

by the way - has anybody worked out that it is dance that floats my boat (more than but not instead of music) in musicals?

I know nothing about musicals. Can we do novel and an alternative?

    FW

Hmm..FW I think that this needs to change. Musicals can make your heart sing and your feet tap. How about thinking of novels/plays/stories that have been adapted to a musical and take a look.
West Side Story - Romeo and Juliet would be a good start - great musical.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with ladies FW. There is something about combining song / dance / acting and emotion that when rolled together "properly" that really hits the spot inside that opens your heart.

I have sat on a tube in London sobbing at Tess dying at the end of "Tess of the Dubervilles" and on a plane to Bangkok reading about Beth in "Little Women" - but I only need about three bars of "Seasons of Love" to be reduced to a blubbering wreck.

I remember a critic in London saying about "Les Miserables" - "its a show where you end up in tears as everyone dies - but you come out still feeling uplifted."

My heart however still belongs to the good ole fashioned musicals full of song-and-dance men.

My funniest moment - the one that always makes me laugh is this: now bear in mind I used to work with "ahem" showgirls

Makes me hoot every time - three Broadway Divas camping for all they are worth.

But this one - especially for Souk - who I always think of as a sassier Jane Russell - look pretty beefcake!!!

Mind you, the overtones of lapdancing, pole dancing, S & M (Just check out the squash rackets) make me grin. BTW her ending up in the pool was a mistake, but they kept in it.

Great - I have something to do during my sabbatical, then. To act on it I need a list of musicals.

MG, you reminded me that I have seen Les Miserables - but the book...Oh, it is something else. I read it when I was in my teens and could not put it down vefore I finished (and it is the size of War and Piece, if not longer).

Now I should get dressed and off shopping for the week instead of having nice chats on here - talking about frogs and all.

    But from a quick skim

Crickett - I'm sorry to hear that it's depression but as a few others have said already - been there & done that. If you are given pills then you'll probably get a bit worse for the first couple of week but then you'll improve. St John's Wort is meant to be good if you go homeopathic but it didn't work for me. Happy pills just re-align the chemical imbalance in the brain until the brain does this itself - Good luck & we're all behind you

MG - good luck on finding the right school.... and as for the little cherubs you encountered :eek: but think of their homelife & feel very superior

    Love the thimble list idea

Have lost another 2 lbs but am off Zumba at the moment as I fell up the patio steps yesterday trying to remove a newly killed sparrow from Tora's gob & now have 2 really sore red & swollen knees so will be gentle with them until they bruise & I can say to DH - SEE, I TOLD YOU IT HURT:p

And for those who know where I live - I wasn't one of the ones evacuated on Thursday night - in fact I knew nothing about it until I heard the news on Friday

Off to shops now for nice tasty foodie things

    Catch y'all later

Love the clips MG - the stripper with the trumpet was a perfect fit for 'sassy broad'

And I had forgotten how beautiful Jane Russell was - except nowadays the press would keep going on about her size.

Cheri I think I luf you as I think Gene Kelly was THE most fantastic dancer :D:D:D

Hmmmm as for musicals......I can't claim much knowledge on these as I have quite a limited number I've seen but here goes ;)

This represents me now - I like to see it as a metaphor about my gremlin and insecurities ;)

This represents where I am going to be (sassy and uber confident that is not singing in a club :rotfl:) and this because I like to think I've got rhythm LOL ;)

And I am sneaking another one in just because I love this movie and James Marsden is a great singer :D

Lovin' all the musicals although I confess I am a bit of a traditionalist and my preference is the oldies :o

Had a mini breakthrough this morning about some insecurities I have (for those of you who know me on FB this explains my status update) so feeling empowered this morning. I even went to Matalan and tried on a maxi dress and ignoring the little gremlin told myself I looked fabulous. Unfortunately the dress had sequins that were coming off and no other one in my size so <sigh> I beginning to think it's a sign from the Universe that I am not supposed to have a maxi dress as part of my wardrobe.

I did half an hours Yoga stretching last night which felt really good and I got up and did Shred DVD this morning. Been a bit slack with the eating today but I shan't let that hold me back :)

Clootie - OUCH! Your poor knees! Get some arnica on them ASAP. Well done on your 2lb off :T

I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

Bitsy, with you on Gene Kelly.......... my dance hero. As for the old films, I swear that I should have lived in the 30s and 40s. Such glamour and decorum. Why cant we be that "together" these days.
