    Morning ladies

DS1 woke up still as excited so I have promised him a trip to the library later to pick out some space books.

Now, heads down to get the kids ups ad organised ( I've left them to lie in a little this morning)

Shopping day so off to make my list from the meal plan - keeping it low.

    Back soon

I have been up again this morning - but not writing, This comes later and writing buddy is here for couple of days. Early this morning had to finish some work - my family have to have a roof and some food, after all.

MG, do tell DS1 that I am proud and OH is as well; and mostly that we are very pleased that he had such great time last night.

Have a good day every one! And yesterday totally rocked!

    Morning All,
I loved the store cupboard item, really interesting. I do fortnightly and try to keep a spare of everything. Sadly, my house is too small to store any bigger amounts ( am working on sorting it out).

Still on de-cluttering mode, was doing quite well and with all the buziness since Easter it now feels as bad as it did before. Thinking positively on this " It isn't as bad and a few 15 minutes burts will sort it".
Todays plan is to do just that:j

Are there any quilters out there? I want to make a patchwork quilt and not sure where to start.

MG - Pity you don't live closer we have a whole home library full of Space books LOL NASA has a website which DS1 might find worth a look and if he gets the space bug there are LOADS of Youtube videos on Space. My DS has a current favourite about the relative size of stars and planets in the Universe. I mean he may not know all his key words at school but the kid can name Pistol Star, Deneb, Arcturus, Antares, Pollux, Rigel, Betelguese, VV Cephi and Canis Majoris (the largest known star ;)) etc etc - as can I from watching it with him so much :rotfl:

Robsmum - well done on your decluttering. I can't help on quilting though. There is a Sewing Thread in special occ board where you could ask :)

Heading off to shops with DD this morning after school run. Not much major frog munching apart from getting stuff sorted out for DD's birthday party in a couple of weeks.

Have a fantastic day everyone :D

Morning Matrix. I feel a bit better today; partly due to a good nights sleep and even more to do with the fact that a chum at work has taken me under her wing. She also suffers from depression and she and I have had a couple of good heart to hearts this week already. We also discovered that we both have a strong faith. So, this morning, we went off to a little room in the back of beyond and we prayed together. I am sorry if that makes any of you feel a bit uncomfortable, as I know religion does sometimes make people feel odd. I can't tell you how comforting that was for me. We have decided to make it a regular morning thing. :)

Robsmum - do you want to have a patchwork quilt with regular shapes and patterns, or do you want to make a crazy patchwork, with lots of irregular shapes? I prefer the regular shapes, but that is probably due to my need for order rather than anything else! :D Then you need to decide what shape to make your patches. I like Hexagons and Octagons and Squares. I think squares are the easiest to start with. Using some old cardboard or thick paper, make your template shape. Then, I like to cut lots and lots of copies out using newspaper or baking parchment. Once you have your pile of shapes, then you can start to cut out your material. Make sure you leave a good couple of centimetres on any side of the template. Take your fabric shape and your paper template and use running stitch to attach the material to the template. When you have a pile of those... you can start to stitch them together into your chosen pattern. Once you have the pattern stitched togetehr, you remove the paper inserts of the shapes and then... bingo! You have your patchwork.

These are the instructions for a hand stitched quilt. I am not sure about machine stitching one! :D

TMIF - what a fabulous link! I could spend all day looking at that stuff!

Morning all! Rain, rain go away come back another day...................
That said it was great fun sploshing about in the streams and the river in the forest this morning. The birds seemed to be at full decibels with their singing so they are obviously very happy.

Full day ahead here with lots of exciting meetings with new partners so I am looking forward to building up a nice portfolio of work.

I am off to Austria next week to exchange contracts on the house. Fingers crossed that the final step goes much more smoothly than everything else has gone.
I too like the idea of a storecupboard but simply not storage space in the house to do one. I do buy enough to last me the month (with a bit extra) so I am fully signed up to bulk buying dried goods. I agree on the rotation method too. I have always been laughed at by my family because I have all my tins and packets in my cupboards in rows, facing forward and the newest at the back. I am like Crickett, I like order. I do also think it comes from the fact that my first ever job was in a grocers and the first thing I was taught was stock rotation. Love it.

Crickett, you do whatever you are comfortable with and you take comfort from. Never apologise for doing things that are good for YOU. I am not religious in any way nowadays (brought up catholic) but I still remember how calming and comforting Sunday Morning Mass could be. I love the stillness at certain points in the mass, I love the singing, the candles, the little coughs in the silences, the sign of peace. My most favourite smell in the whole world is frankincense. So you see, despite rebelling against the belief systems I completely get the rituals in religions and think that the art of praying is about learning to meditate, reflect and just be. I would gate crash a mass if I could overlook the sermons and the bits that get me a bit anxious. You go for it.

Crickett: Thank you for that info. I want to do regular shapes also - I need order.
Am so pleased that you have found support from a colleague and that you share your faith. I'm not sure what I feel about faith, but when asked I always say I am a christian and try to live by christian values. My late Mum was a very devoted christian and her faith helped her enormously. When she became ill she said" I'm not afraid, it's God's will and he'll h, help me" and also "God never gives us more than we can cope with, he just challenges us with how we deal with it." I was with her when she died ,she was so calm and peaceful and I feel her faith helped her to help me cope with this.
Lots of love and just take each hour as it comes.
