Is the fuel economy really that bad?
I like the Almera - had a 2003 1.5 as my first car.
The needle does drop alarmingly quickly, imho compared to the heap I was driving last year - a 16 year old Ford Escort 1.8 diesel (with 150k miles on the clock). Before that I had a SEAT Ibiza 1.4 petrol which had excellent economy too.
My sister has a gold 2003 Almera 1.5 'Flare' & she loves it.
Picanto
I went out earlier and had a look at some Kia Picantos, coincidentally from the very same garage I bought my Almera from. £7,195 is the price for the 1.0 Spice. Looks great in black (not too girly looking) but it lacks alloy wheels.
I might leave it until late summer or the autumn and make a decision then.Generation Rent0 -

!!!! £7195, find an Arnold Clark Kia (NOT a Motorstore/etc) and show them their online advert - worked for me.
New Picanto will be out by late summer / autumn though (maybe sooner - release to press is the 14th May according to the newsletter Kia sent me the other day), and that will be worth waiting for if you don't simply want the cheapest car money can buy right now like I did0 -
I really like the new shape Picanto. Looks as good as the other Japanese small cars. Kia are certainly now an excellent car manufacturer and have come a long way.
Arnold Shark
dealers are a bit far away for me but I'm sure that there will be a deal to be done locally. Generation Rent0 -

In my defence, I suggested it to someone who wanted an Amica and was prepared to pay nearly that much for a 2002 model!
In any case the above is fundamentally the same car as the Picanto....0
