I'd suspect those partner banks are probably not in the UK.0 -

Where have you read that?0 -
Paul_Varjak wrote: »Installed Rapport again yesterday. It does consume a lot of RAM and can hog CPU time as well. Also seems to slow down Internet Explorer, though not Google Chrome.
At least it does not interfere with Comodo firewall now; I just hope it is as efficacious as the makers claim it to be.
I just wish some indepenent test laboratory would due an in-depth test of the software.
Strangely, Nationwide is still NOT listed as a trusteer partner on the Trusteer website but over 100 banks/building societies and even Paypal and eBay are partners. So, I can only assume it must be good!?
Apparently, Trusteer has two partner banks that won't guarantee customers' losses if they don't install Rapport.
Sopme people suggest that you should use a bootable Linux CD to do on-line banking but it would seem that Nationwide frowns upon this and will not apparently reimburse those who use Linux for on-line banking.
Even if Rapport is not all what it is cracked up to be, Nationwide would be hard pressed to deny me compensation given that I have taken all their recommended steps to protect my on-line security.
MadMark's blog, that's an infomercial not an analysis site. there is no analysis just an advert which contradicts even what PhanBhoys say, for example he says :
""" have had Rapport installed on several systems, have never had a problem with it, and I have used it with a variety of operating system, browsers, and security products. No conflicts, no errors, no problems. This is a FREE product (that your bank is subsidizing). Get it, use it, love it, forget it. Until it saves your butt! ""
As for your comment """ Nationwide frowns upon this and will not apparently reimburse those who use Linux for on-line banking """ like others here I'd like to see some evidence that that is the case please Paul Varjak.
Now quite why anyone would trust any banks word is a conundrum, why anyone would trust a bank's IT advice is an even bigger mystery to me.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Here is the evidence you require...
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/internetbanking/helpandsupport/browserhelp.htm
Just click on the SUPPORT tab.
You will note that it specifically excludes linux browsers, It seems unsure whether it supports Google Chrome or not. IE9 is not listed as a supported browser, athough it is not specifically excluded either. Beta browsers are specifically excluded from their support.
BROWSER NOT SUPPORTED = NO BANKING PROMISEWhat we don't support
- Any Beta versions of browsers
- Any browsers running on any Linux distribution (e.g. Konqueror/KDE, Firefox/Ubuntu)
- Camino, Omniweb or Shiira on Mac OS X
Support is given on the basis that you don't switch off certain features in the browser settings (e.g. disabling JavaScript) or customise the browser in ways that may affect how it works (for example, adding browser extensions that may cause content not to load or render properly). For tips and advice on browser setups visit our Troubleshooting site.0 -
That's pretty idiotic - only giving support to browsers running on the least secure OS. That's a reason not to use Nationwide IMO.
The only real danger to using a Linux LiveCD for banking, is if there's a compromised router (likely due to Windows based malware).0 -

HiYa Paul Varjak, we all know, and have known for years about browser support .. .. I asked for evidence to support your claim that """" """ Nationwide frowns upon this and will not apparently reimburse those who use Linux for on-line banking """ """"Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. It is in black and white on their website, I even highlighted the relevant sentence for you, all you have to do is read it!0 -
The word " reimburse " does not show up in the page you supplied.
Can someone else check my work please, go here ~ click on the support tab ~ and search for the word reimburse.
How many others can find the word reimburse ?
Thanks for you time 'R'Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Richie...
It is called the INTERNET BANKING PROMISE!
Under the INTERNET BANKING PROMISE you will only be reimbursed/refunded (or what other synonym you care to use) if you are using a supported operating system running a supported browser.
If you don't have a supported operating system running a supported browser, the INTERNET BANKING PROMISE does NOT apply and you will not be reimbursed/refunded.
No browser running under Linux is covered by the INTERNET BANKING PROMISE because no Linux Browser is supported by Nationwide.0 -

It is not aimed at users of this forum and the like who are generally tech and security saavy in the main.
It is aimed at those who despite having been told umpteen times in the press/TV/Radio/Newspapers not to use the same pin, password, memorable name whatever for most/everything STILL do it.
Oh dear! Considers my wrist well and truly smacked and promises to change some passwords. To be fair though, I do use different ones for banking than I do for trivial things like MSE and games.0
